Went to MG today to test drive the IM6 - bloke didn't turn up waheeey. His colleague showed me the showroom one. The interior is very nice especially the soft leather, I actually like the dual screen and there's quite a few features like the lumbar massage. A few questionable decisions - single wireless charger in the front with a hidden away usb in the compartment. decent boot size. I seemed to know more about the car than the salesman showing me around.

Got the BYD Sealion 7 TD booked in the New year. Kia told me to call back once they have stock of the EV5 in January. I've yet to look at Hyundai.

How to make EVs and AI fight eachother for the biggest bubble




Toyota must be laughing their asses off watching all these other brands try to out do eachother at selling EVs at a loss while Toyota seems like they made the right choice all along with hybrids

I didn't quite realise how large these losses are for these brands so this was eye opening and despite car manufacturers basically subsidising EV buyers themselves they are having to scale back planned production as demand is nowhere near their predicted paths.

It’s also a load of hyperbolic nonsense. Usual clickbait from YouTube.

Just to caveat that I am not saying EVs are a roaring success but they are increasing their market share year on year and they will eventually become more dominant.

The idea they are a failure and that Toyota were right not to embrace them is utter nonsense. Because very few manufacturers totally embraced EVs and by far their biggest market is still petrol. But they understand EVs sales are increasing and the market is shifting. Just not as fast as many expected.

I wish for the sake of the environment we were more on track for the shift to green energy, but we aren’t and I believe the mandate for 2030 is now unachievable. This is not because EVs aren’t part of the right solution, but because as usual the various UK governments refuses to commit. Though at least Labour are trying with some initiatives to remove the power of NIMBYs.

I'll finish your sentence correctly - while there second biggest market of nearly 1.7 million vehicles yearly is quickly eroded away as the Chinese continue buying locally made EV's.

The West thinks we are the be all and end all, the USA is making itself into a bigger laughing stock than North Korea, and China, India, and the rest of Asia will drop European/Japanese cars faster than people realise, the only thing they are doing is speeding up their own demise in the foreign markets they sell into. It's like that boxing match from the weekend, you have one actual sportsman and an entertainer, but one of them is just dancing around until they get beaten, be that quickly or slowly.
 
I expect Toyota's success is largely due to their reputation for reliability and excellent warranty. Something that other manufacturers have dropped the ball with.

I think the momentum in improving emissions is stalling when it comes to road transport. Vested Oil interests are winning the PR battle around costs. Cost has become the narrative.

Yes im on IOG no idea why not paying fixed fee not sure it’s an option. I’m doing 135 miles a day and charging at least 60% a night during school term time so it’s probably about right tbh.

135 miles is like £3/day on IOG, defo not cheaper in a diesel unless someone else is paying.

Intelligent drive pack tariff got discontinued due to being ‘over subscribed’ (aka not profitable).
