I still get 220ish miles to a full charge in the summer even with all seasons fitted so they've made negligible difference to range for me at least.
 
Didn't Jaguar start fitting all season tyres to improve rolling resistance?
The eagle sport all season is much better rolling resistance on 20” than then summer 22” I currently have.

As my car doesn’t eat suspension bushes for fun and has adaptive air suspension its not as punishing as 21” on a Tesla to both durability and attributes.
 
I didn’t say you can’t question it, I was merely pointing out the slight hypocrisy of your post questioning why it had such a large wheel when the model of car you own ships with relatively large wheels for the size of the car as standard on certain trim levels.

It’s not even like 21” is that big by 2026 standards. We’ve spent the last week talking about the iX3 and EX60 which have 22” options, the EX60 is 21” as standard on the higher trim level.
20 are a common size so cheaper tyres. Don’t understand why they need 1 inch more for significantly more cost that’s all. Not sure why it matters what I have my m3 is on 19 inch wheels.

Anyway I’d prefer 19s on a born like my old V2 but the VZ has low profile 20s only which seem to not fill arches as well. Ride on both borns miles ahead of a Tesla anyway so it can go big wheels with compromising ride and wheels control. Especially the VZ on Active dampers.

The wife and I went on a bit of an EV hunt over the weekend. The lease for the Q8 is expiring in a few months, so we're looking for the next car. The 'shortlist' I had before going out were a Kia EV4, Peugeot e5008, BYD Sealion 7 and a MG IM6.

Was fairly impressed with the EV4. Was initially concerned it would be too small, however it had plenty of space inside. It did feel a bit cheap - but it is fairly cheap, so to be expected.
While at Kia, I also had a look at an EV9. Did feel like an absolute tank, but it was lush inside (perhaps because it was a GT-Line S). It's not available via on our leasing company, so not an option.
Loved the BYD Sealion 7. Looked great in person, and the interior was spot on. Felt like a mix between the Audi and a Tesla. Had normal controls and everything felt high end, well laid out and really intuitive.
The Peugeot was quite nice. It didn't have the same level of tech as the BYD, however everything felt relatively well laid out. The main reason to look at the Peugeot is the 7 seats. We can see a lot of times where the extra seats would come in handy. It was a bit tighter inside than the Kia, but that also meant it was a bit less tank like outside.
The final car we looked at with the IM6. I was really hopeful for this, as it's spectacularly good value through the lease company. However in person I really didn't like it. The over use of leather in the cabin felt garish. The lack of any kind of 'normal' buttons or controls seemed ridiculous - and considering it's got no buttons, the screens seemed too small and the UI was badly laid out. 100kwh battery and 750bhp though. :o

Next time we go back we're going to test drive the Peugeot, the EV4 and also get a look at the Citroen e-C5 as well.
 
I always go for the smaller wheels. That's going to be your best bet for comfort.

I remember loads of Polestar 2 owners moaning about the ride comfort on 20" wheels, the 19" were fine.

20" is the smallest they do on the iX3 though.

This is one of those ‘it looks good on paper’ but everything I read about this car says it fails to deliver, even factoring in the real price you’d pay.

Even the range is sub par despite having a 100kwh battery.
 
It does according to the Cupra website, the only two configurations available to order now are:

V1 59 KWH AFV 230 AUTO with 19’s

V1 79 KWH AFV 230 AUTO with 20’s

It’s only an extra £1300 to get the 79kwh which seems like a no brainer when it comes to list pricing.

No it isn’t the only option. You can select V2, V3 and VZ. Though yes they have now limited wheel size to the battery but that was not always the case. So it was possible to see 58kWh V1, V2 and V3 with either 19” or 20” alloys.

Apologies I’m not trying to be argumentative, just clarifying that if you see a Born on the road, don’t assume wheel size equates to battery size.

As already pointed out a Born on 20” alloys rides much better than a 2022/2023 Model Y on 19” alloys. Car size has nothing to do with it other than how they look, an I-Pace on 22” alloys will ride far nicer than any pre Juniper Model Y because it has air suspension.

That's a decent amount more battery for not much more money. Must cost them more than that in battery costs...
There was a pricing updated for the 40k limit which will disappear in April but I think the V2 79kWh was £39,995.
They also seem to link wheel size to battery, the very first 77kWh only had 4 seats too due to weight homologation. Back then V1 was on 18s too.

For the MEB+ (which also went to 59 and 79kWh) from 58 and 77 its 12 modules vs 9 and 120kg heavier, 160kW vs 185kW peak charge speed. All V1,2,3 are 230PS e-boost now anyway so they have tidied it up since i ordered my V2 in 2022. VZ is the more powerful motor and only 20s, but I went for the wider 235 tyres on the Tornado forged wheels which apparently 3kg a wheel lighter Anyway great cars, lots of room, quiet, smooth ride and reliable IME

Yeah, apart from some heavy use of black plastics and a few rattles (that I managed to fix) I am very happy with my 2023 Born 77kWh. Great handling and drives very well.
 
Not sure what you are referring to but all season tyres are usually B or C rated for fuel efficiency (hence rolling resistance) more similar to performance oriented tyres and usually not as good as premium touring tyres which are A or B rated.
Yeah I got that totally wrong. I blame it on getting old...

We have the most basic possible Born... v1 55 kWh with 18s :D

Have you had a look at a smart#5 yet? The summit edition looks a good deal, its a more "boxy" than some you mentioned.

Not yet. I've just seen the 97kwh version of the e5008 isn't available for delivery until December.

I'm looking at cars at the very top end of the possible EV range.

its one step down from the brabus version, the brabus has more power 640ish, the summit has 580ish, brabus is probably a bit to much power wise so I've read/heard.

It's not a 7 seater though. There's better options if we're doing 5 seats. I would be looking at single motor long range versions.

Had power with the Q8, now looking for efficiency and practicality.

You must mean ‘best range for the money’ right as the cars you’ve listed aren’t the longest range ones

I'm open to suggestions. However it needs to be able to fit adults comfortably in the rear, have a decent amount of boot space. Etron GT-s, Porsche Taycans etc are obviously out.

I'm not getting a Tesla, and it has to be available on the company lease scheme - so some of the newer Chinese EVs are out.
