My bro just sent me a message (a screenshot) of someone called "The EV Guy" saying from April, Octopus Intelligent Go will be reduced to something like 3.49p. That can't be right can it?
Great news. Mine still shows as 7p at the moment in the App.It is, but only for customers who were still on the 7p rate - it's a 3.5p reduction to tariff rates being applied across the board.
New customers are dropping from 9p to 5.5p etc. and day rates are dropping the same way, see also E.ON NextDrive etc.
It's because of the removal of the RO and ECO - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2025/11/energy-bill-cut-renewables-eco-martin-lewis/

Not sure I like the 58.21p > 61.5p standing charge increase. But I suppose we're heavy users so the unit rate is more important than the charge. My bro just sent me a message (a screenshot) of someone called "The EV Guy" saying from April, Octopus Intelligent Go will be reduced to something like 3.49p. It is a great saving! When I go past petrol stations now, I think to myself, "I remember those things."Saw it myself - I think its about time I hopped on the EV train !! Spending £120 per week on diesel currently

Petrol and Diesel on the rise and EV charging halved, can see this pushing many people to EVs.Saw it myself - I think its about time I hopped on the EV train !! Spending £120 per week on diesel currently
Great if you can afford one / actually want what you can affordPetrol and Diesel on the rise and EV charging halved, can see this pushing many people to EVs.

Nearly 17% yield is pretty strong. If that is a genuine ROI then there is no arguing with the financial logic going for solar in your case.As per normal, like others quoting this, you've forgotten one very important point.
Put that £15k in an investment pot, but every time you pay your electric bill, take out what you need to pay what the solar would have saved/earned you, you will find that investment pot runs out long before the solar stops saving money
Here's a calculation I did a few weeks back when someone made exactly the same comment on a YouTube video.
If you're staying in the property long enough, the solar is the winner, especially as what I save every year is then invested in my pension.
Nearly 17% yield is pretty strong.
That was like me and EVs until I happened to have a meeting with my manager not long after he'd got his and he told me how little it cost him to run which then sent me down the rabbit hole. Before that I'd just assumed anything with a decent range was well out of my price range and I wouldn't be making the sort of massive fuel savings that I now am.Solar and batteries are very cheap now, and energy is overall trending upwards. Anyone who owns a property would be crazy not to consider it, you can even get decent low rate loans so you are paying a loan every month rather than EON/Octopus etc. I think people just don't actually look at the real costs and assume they 'know' rather than having actual knowledge.

You could open your window and listen to the vehicle by you.I was considering selling my EV as I wanted to go back to Petrol. I miss the whole hearing the engine sound etc
Now thinking just to hold off considering the world is going bonkers.
Have done that when some exotic stuff has passed. You could open your window and listen to the vehicle by you.
