I played eve 2/3 years ago for 3 nights, then wow kicked in.

Now i'm wanting a new test, so its back to eve,

Anyone got any decent guides for me to read on this, i remember the game being very complicated and having a lot to think about,

Things like what race ect is best?

Also is there still a OCuK corp? or anyone got a decent corp that accepts noobies?

All in all.... anyone wanna help me ;)

The whole new player experience improved drasticaly with the release of Apocrophya, better tutorials and noob missions.

Race doesn't matter all that much (but I would say that I'm minni), Galante or Amarr seem to be the flavour of the month atm but this does depends on what you want to end up doing really.

If you get stuck for a corp or need some pointers drop me a mail, my char name is the same as my forum one.

They re-did the tutorials, so pick your career line from one of them and proceed with the missions. Keep training your skills and use EVEMon to assist you in planning your character.

Try to bring back your old char? Since you don't want to lose all those SP you've trained.

Na i didn't really do much, just skipped all the tuts and just flew out and got blown up a few times ^.^

Anyone mind explaining the differant races..

I also found this page particularly useful.

Races used to have different starting stats. now they're equal.
I am not certain about the specifics of all the races, but I know that if you wanted to do shield tanking and go missile spec, you should go Caldari since that's what they're best at

Very simply -

Caldari - best shield defence, use mainly missile weapons but have longest range gun (sniper) ship, best at electronic warfare (ship jamming)
Amarr - best armour defence, use mainly laser weapons but also have a few good missile boats.
Gallente - ok at armour defence, use mainly hybrid weapons, have some good drone ships.
Minmatar - ok at shield defence, use projectile weapons, have some of the fastest ships in-game.

almost
minmatar have the fastest and have highest alpha damage and most dps dread. they use projectile weapons AND missiles AND drones, they use any type of tanking they can.

Hence why I put very simply....

tbh, any.
if you're going for the long game then minny

Na I wouldn't go minnie, most of the minnie pilots I fly with and know are slowly changing over to either Gallente or Amarr since the speed nerf.

Armour tanking is the way forward for PvP.

I am also thinking of getting in to Eve, going from wow. Want something thats pretty spacey lol. Caldari sound like the guys for me as I like tech and shields.
Is Eve one big universe or are there lots of seperate servers like wow?

One server.

Ok downloaded and starting tomorrow. Is there anything else I need to know :) Do the better tutorials come with the game or as a download / addon? The directx10 graphical update I have heard about, is that a patch too, already enabled with the client, or is that a big download?

Its one download.

also, i would advise you use your 100% training time boost on your learning skills

It will cut down on your training time dramatically once your boost ends (1.6mil SP)

Instant Recall level I
Analytical Mind level I
Learning Level I
Instant Recall level II
Analytical Mind level II
Learning Level II
Instant Recall level III
Analytical Mind level III
Learning Level III
Instant Recall level IV
Eidetic Memory I
Eidetic Memory II
Eidetic Memory III
Analytical Mind level IV
Learning Level IV
Logic I
Logic II
Logic III1
Eidetic Memory IV
Logic IV
Instant Recall level V
Analytical Mind V
Eidetic Memory V
Logic V
Learning V

after that, look at Spatial Awarness, Iron Will, Clarity, Emphaty, Presence and Focus if you have any room left in you 100% boost.

Also, remap your attributes before you start any training. use your first remap (for the learning skills) as 9 for intel, 15 for memory and 5 on charisma, willpower and perception. After youve finished your learning skills, use your spare remap for Perception 15, Willpower 9, intelligence charisma and memory 5 - this will result in you taking the least amount of time learning ship and gunnery skills etc for PvP goodness.;)

Eve is definitely a game of patience if you want to be up for PvP stuff in general as it's not down to just farming XP like in many other games, you are constrained by actual time to train new skills (although this varies based on your attributes) so if you are looking for some fast PvP action with a new character, you're not that likely to get very far unless you fight another new player really.

Also, in case you end up doing anything like mining or just having anything in a "jet can", just be aware that if someone else takes from one of your cans in space, you are allowed to attack them without getting whacked by Concord (the NPC police in the game basically) but once you attack them, they are free to retaliate. You get a lot of guys in hi-sec space (especially 0.8-1.0) where they are looking for a fight with players and try and egg them on to attack by taking their stuff. Just FYI!

You might also want to look at the Eve Ombey maps as they are a really good way of finding your feet in your system. Remember that you are mostly safe in Hi-Sec space (0.5 - 1.0 security rating) and it's probably best to be there for a while until you find your feet and get your skills up.

The maps can be found here by the way:

You uninstall the game before the game eats you.

Eve is by far the most new player unfriendly game you can ever get.

Sums up EVE.

I started the trial (again) yesterday and just finished all the 'starter' missions. Stopped trying for perfection and just gone it with and its a lot better 2nd time around.

I'm a Caladari Entrpeneur, jusst picked at random :), and all is going well. Shoot Raliden Savage a message if you need a hand.
