Bit of a shocker but perhaps not surprising... they are only human i guess guess the temptation was too much to take.

Eve Online in developers cheating shocker

I think the guy who found this info out was actually banned from Eve as well :(

Do we need an online gaming watchdog? this is a bit like hydroelectric workers giving themselves free electricity ehhh (well not really but you get the analogy :D )

yea thats pretty pathetic

" The blueprints in question will be returned to CCP and reintroduced through a new raffle in the future "

Will the raffle be fixed ?

Meh, not surprising really.

All it was was free ships and BPOs that are worth billions?

So basically they didn't get any advantage Vs. Other players apart from the fact they got free dosh.

Meh, tbh if I could get free dosh I would, but then im bored of the game.

If you read the whole thread though, its not just about a couple of free ships and some extra dosh.

I'm not an Eve player, and I thought the same - but if you read it more thoroughly you can see how its affected the balance, economically and politically, and baisically destroyed the trust between players and developers.

Apparently the blueprints the GM's Corp had practically gave them a license to print money, plus gave them a big advantage in the PvP Corp wars (thats the impression I've been getting, anyway)

I'd pretty much guarantee this happens in all MMORPG's, but its only really in EVE that it has any real effect. Say some Dev in WoW gives him and his guildies all the best items - the game isn't dynamic like EVE so the effects would be minimal.

Really wish I could get into EVE :(

Same thing happened with UO a long time ago with a GM whos name now escapes me. Boiled down to him giving free stuff away, creating items and placing castles etc.. then selling on ebay. Considering a castle could sell for $1000 - $2500 USD depending on location its pretty major

What's enraged most people is the free insider info that has been given out by the 'corrupt' dev.

Imagine knowing exactly what happens in the background..

Aye true, I was only skim reading.

Infact now I think of it, it really does mess things up

Hmmm am tempted by this game...how much is the UK PPM?
game time cards make it cheaper, buy in euros or dollers. a sub is about £14 per month with reductions for 3/6/12 month subs

Never really been much into any MMO, but I am seriously intrested in this...although I take it I'll feel a very very very small fry for like, the entire time I play?

Will bug me a little that, but I'm DLing the client and will try and get a trial key when my new pc arrives on friday :)

get in a corp.
small fry on your own, once theres 10, 20, 40, 60, 100 of you online at once you can move worlds.

You need to play this game for a few months to appreciate its charms. Personaly I think it a "thinking person's" game. Research is a major driver for your progress in the game - but it continues while you are offline. For this reason you can try something else like Vanguard for a while, but spend a few minutes managing your eve research per day. I tend to keep going back to it. I think it is a true long term game.

HINT: If you can afford it buy two or three accounts and set up your own in-game corporation early for all your characters early on. Makes for more interest and possibilities. The client is very stabe and you can easily run three concurrent clients with three seperate accounts on a very modest computer (with 1.5GB RAM preferably).

That's the important thing about Eve. You can very quickly become part of major events in the eve universe if you get into a good 0.0 (lawless space) corporation). I've also seen single players accidentally spark off wars that changed whole regions of space :)

No way I could afford more than one account! I'm 15 and my income comes mainly from the not always reliable Google Adsense :P
