Bit of a shocker but perhaps not surprising... they are only human i guess guess the temptation was too much to take.

Eve Online in developers cheating shocker

I think the guy who found this info out was actually banned from Eve as well :(

Do we need an online gaming watchdog? this is a bit like hydroelectric workers giving themselves free electricity ehhh (well not really but you get the analogy :D )

well i dont play this game (well i played in the beta a little)
but regardless of what the character is of the person who has accused CCP
what does it say about the nature of the company that their attitude is this:

The first part involved a case that happened seven months ago when a CCP employee's identity became public knowledge within his corporation. Per company policy, the incident was investigated and actions taken where appropriate, including the removal of characters whose identities were compromised.

these accusations were recently brought forward when a player revealed the identity of numerous CCP employee characters. Since these play characters are known to belong to CCP employees, they will be removed from the game. Many of them have been around since the creation of EVE and it is most unfortunate that these developers are now forced to end their relationships with their in-game friends, but that is our policy when the anonymity of staff members has been compromised.

We feel EVE benefits from the developers playing EVE as any other members of the community do, and to impose artificial limitations -- such as no access to Tranquility or special flagging on a developer's player character -- would greatly hinder the development of EVE

^^ to me that strongly gives the impression that in future all eve developers have to be extremely careful not to give away their identity in their corporations but to continue with what they are doing with all their extra knowledge and powers befitting a developer/gm (as opposed to just a player)

Basically they seem more concerned with the fact that the dev was caught rather than if he was cheating. Make of that what you will.

Also this Kugutsumen is apparently banned for revealing RL personal information about the cheater. So if Eve were really all about upholding their policies fairly, why didnt they ban this Sir Molle (BoB leader) fellow as well for revealing Kugutsumen's personal information?
