Eve online shoul be more like Star Trek Online.

yea I played the beta and at the start which for me was the most fun everything is is nostalgia really.

the game used to be amazing.

I played at the start with about 20-30 guys from the beta (critical mass enterprises)

Wew actually won the station lottery in the BETA and were one of the first corps to get to test building a station, I think 5 corps were chosen.

we were just a bunch of friends who played games toether though and didn't capitalise on the fame we could have had in beta, we werent really looking to expand.

big mistake I guess.

we were one of the original members of fountain alliance when evoloution forced everyone in the area to join up or leave.

We quickly hated evlolutions backstabbing etc so joined their enemies curse instead eventually merging with VOTF

That list reminded me of m0o, weren't they s list of pirates? I got chased around 0.0 by Lord Zap (iirc) and one of his cronies in a Scorpion. Thinking back they were probably stacking invulnerability fields so they probably were invulnerable before it got fixed!

Your name also reminded me I think some of the early lot made a fortune ninja mining Arknor from 0.0 before most knew what was going on. I didn't play beta and started a few months in I think. We had a good small corp but no idea what was going on :)

It was a long time ago so some memories might be a bit off! My main was the same name as this account, it is on that Eve monument in Reykjavik.

Yea we ninja mined in outer ring and fountain a lot at the very start quite possible you were in the same belt even if you didn't know us.

everyone just used to leave each other alone apart from the few pirate corps like mo0
they exploited the game a lot at the start though, most of them probably got banned

Quite possible, we used to see a lot of people around but it was fairly safe. Thinking about it I'm sure we started off in Metropolis mining (grinding) the low grade stuff. Took forever to get a frigate, battleships were a fantasy! The miner II blueprint fiasco caused a lot of imbalance. The original owners must have had so much more ISK than the rest of us. No way to make that back up.

Sadly some of the devs were behind some of the exploitation :(
there was an exploit where you could put a full stack of dmg mods on a single slot
there was another exploit where every hit would be wrecking something to do with the games calculations being funky.
then there were the gate camps where mo0 would place thousands of jet cans so as you were entering the grid your game would either crash or completely freeze trying to load the grid and you would be dead before you could do anything about it.
then there was the drone exploit where drones would one shot people.
wasnt there an exploit where you could control more drones than you were supposed to be able to as well because of the domi bonus at the time.

and then there were the times we saw some really weird things happening like that time a GM gave someone a jovian weapon or whatever it was (I think technically the GM got blown up?)
Then there were the t2 bpo lottery being rigged by a dev who didnt get sacked because he said sorry (lol seriously wtf he didn't get sacked.....)
Then there was band of brothers aka BOB who were able to destroy fleets that were sitting inside POS bubbles and I'm not talking the "warp through a pos" knock someone out trick.

they literally could shoot ships sitting inside a pos shield theres a really bad quality video of it on youtube somewhere from when I was in curse alliance and we were fighting BOB.

how much other help do you think BOB had that we never found out abbout? it is to far fetched to assume they had GM's scouting for them etc? or sent info from eve mails the devs looked at.

lets face it almost every god damn eve dev was in BOB and they cheated as hell, no other game company would survive that

BTW mo0 cheated so much the devs had to get concord battleships to break one of their gate camps when they were killing thousands of noobies per day.

btw there were times when you could farm concord for some really interesting stuff, before they made it an exploit to survive and escape concord.

also I'm not convinced harvester mining drones were an accident, they used to drop in piles of thousands at a time

BTW there are lots of infinite run copies in the game unless they changed them, copies used to be the same as originals accept you couldnt research them

There was an exploit that allowed you to modify the terms of the trade window as well after both parties had accepted it - though it required injecting some python into the game client or something but I don't think it was accidental.

IIRC CCP did some cleaning house over those legacy dev abuses though about 2 years ago.
