Following up from my thread about my college losing my work and messing me around so much last year that I didn't get into college I've now enrolled in an evening Higher Human Biology class at a differnt college. I'm due to start at 6 tonight and I'm not sure what to expect and I'm a bit nervous!
Will it be like a regular college class or will it be even more working on my own?
It's a 3 hour class but will it normally last for that long?
What kind of materials will I get?

Thanks, Lor.

I went to an art and design portfolio prep evening class, at college. It was rubbish :p Hardly anyone spoke to each other and not a lot got done, in terms of work and teaching. I ended up dropping out after 4-5 weeks.

i'm off to a psychology class tonight and I am really nervous about it too. i have know idea what to expect. Its been ages since i had to study.

i went to a private german cookery class the other day...

coat?
I wonder how many people are actually going to understand that :p

I've been thinking of enrolling on a sign language course at the college in town, hopefully meet some new people as I know pretty much nobody here :(

Funnily enough I've been looking at potential evening class options this week, but I can't seem to find anywhere local offering the kind of thing I want (A-levels in something like Law, History or IT). It pretty much seems to be focussed solely on languagues and more vocational stuff like childcare or web design, plus your Maths/English GCSEs.

I guess that's understandable in part given that A-levels tend to be focussed more for teenagers in fulltime education whereas those type of courses have broader appeal, but it's still frustrating. I do miss studying somewhat and crave some kind of intellectual challenge.

does anybody know if they enrol for adult classes more than once a year? my mum wants to join a class and ive just discovered tonight is the last night for adult enrolment and theres no way she can make it to enrol.

will she get another chance or will she have to wait till next year?

I've done A level evening classes. The emphasis is usually on self-study, so you're going to have to put most of the in while you're at home.

I would imagine that your class will be fairly ordinary, just with mature students.

I repeated my GSCE english in an evening class, which was full of foreigners who obviously couldn't speak english = no fun.
