Event log monitoring software

Anyone know of such a thing that's freeware or extremely cheap?

We were mean't to be getting SCCM but not it appears that management have pulled funding for it. One of the main benefits we were looking forward to was the eventlog monitoring functionality.

Anyone have any suggestions? It's mostly with Server 2003 R2 for the moment.

Considered using Powershell + WMI?

Do a search for Powershell and Event Logs and you will see how easy it is to knock up a script to monitor for events. Damn sight cheaper than SCCM!

Cheers Sirius will look into that mate! Bosses have opted for something other than SCCM (even though we got a server and training on it at ££££) yet I don't know if the new product will be as useful to us techies or if it's just for bloomin audits.
