Well it looks like I have :( must have been rather forceful installing the extra two Dimms as not only one ram slot will work.

Thought it was the ram to start with causing my bsod's as they were all memory related, so took them all out and reseated them, a loud crack comming from the slot next to the CPU and now only one slot will work :(

New motherboard ordered! Roll on Wednesday so I can get back to full power!

A loud 'crack' doesn't sound like good news! :(

'Clicks' ore OK... 'cracks' are not... enjoy your new board anyway... I hope you managed to order a 'better' one! :)

I thought I had a few times, but reseating the sticks always seemed to sort my problems.

Never broke a board yet installing memory, but I have two small thin pieces of perspex I slide under the board where memory slots are.

So, when installing memory, it allow the board to flex only slightly, but prevents me from using excessive force & damaged the board.

As the smaller boards usually have four of the fixing points around the ram slots anyway, I sometimes leave it until after I have screwed the board in place.

Don't make the mistake of resting it on the outside of an anti static bag though, as that is a conductive surface!
