Ever had a security scare where you work ?

I reckon in the last 25 years at my factory we've had at least 25 bomb scares where we've all had to go out to the car park.
Every one of them was during the IRA troubles and codes would be given.
It made me laugh that we were all on the car park and thats where the bombs could be.

Had some mental patients escape from a near by hosptial and wonder around our land and play in the pond. Nothing too serious.

I was just going to say. Standard procedure during a bomb alert is to remain where you are until you are told to go elsewhere.

Working in the City of London for 20 years, it has become part of working life. Doesn't help when careless people leave their belongings on the station or train causing needless misery for commuters .

I've had a couple of security alerts whilst working on the platforms at Waterloo station, that was towards the end of the IRA troubles. It's always amazed me how people react.

Me "You need to evacute the station now sir, as there may be a bomb in the area."

Passenger "So when's my train then?"

Me "I don't know, there might not be one if the bomb goes off."

Passenger "I'm not going until you tell me when my trains coming."

Only one I can think of was someone left a bag in the lift at one of the sites.

The first company I worked for had a couple of big explosions but, they were caused by company employees themselves. :p

Black special - Normal security procedures, ID check and swipe card.
Orange - ID check, swipe card and body searched
Red - No work

Bomb scares are a utter nusiance where I work: Everybody has to goto the carpark and wait for hours whist the police search for bombs

When I worked for VWR (ex Merck), our site had a lot of highly flammable chemicals (laboratory supply company) and one day I offerred to help with the post only to find what we assumed to be a parcel bomb.

During the time it was, it was a very scruffy brown package with lucky islam written on it and a wire coming out. Cue the girls worrying and me taking it to the xray machine to see what many of us thought to be a bomb (coils/wires/other things we couldn't make out). We called the police, they were a bit lax and it turned out to be some broken equipment some customer of a dealer had sent directly to us.

Panic over!

We used to get them all the time. I recall before I left to go back to Uni, getting several from SHAC because of Huntingdon Life Sciences. We didn't even supply them, idiots.

I used to work for a urm, 'major political party' and around the election we were expecting a 'special visitor' the security was ridiculous. The police (or other security agencies) came to search the building for bombs and to do security audits quite regularly.

On the day that the purple powder was thrown in the House of Commons chamber there was also similar powder/paint thrown over the front access to our offices.

Another time some anti-war protestors managed to gain access to the building, which wasn't particularly hard as Royal Mail always left the doors open. Some of the staff managed to lock them in the disabled toilets whilst they were in there planning their strategy.

Bikini black is nothing special, its the standard alert status across the UK if theres no suspected immediate threat.
