Just installed a new version of everest on vista x64 and all i can say is wow. Finally a prog that tells ya absolutely everything ya need to know, timings, temps, fan speeds, volts etc etc on anything ya can think of thats in ya comp. Can view the info in ya side bar or the normal way in ya system tray. plus it also has logitech G15 keyboard support so i can monitor everything i need to while playing games too.

Right finally my question, I have 3 temps (idle) for my C2D:-

CPU: 24º
Core1: 41º
Core2: 42º

Just a little unsure which im menna be going off and why there is such a diff between the cpu and the 2 cores, i always hear ppl quoting low temps with the C2D's and i'm just wondering whether mine is nice an cool or actually quite warm while its idle.

Ta CaNNoN.

They will all be correct, but the important ones are the cores. The cores temperatures are measured inside the CPU, the other temp is the general temperature outside the CPU which is why it's a lot lower.

The CPU temp in Everest can be via the Tcase sensor located inside the CPU and it's lower because it's the closest to the IHS. It's generally ~15c less than the core temps but can vary by +/- 3c although for M0 steppings I've seen it can be much less than 15c (only a ~5c delta with my E2180).

Maybe not all motherboards report the Tcase temp but from the values above it looks like the OP's motherboard does.
