Is this game worth it? I tried the 7 day trial which lasted 3 hours, since you can't port out of the starting zone and it got me to level 6. But I kinda wanted to know if there was lots of stuff to do in the high end. Raids/group wise, I have a group of friends that are interested in moving to EQ2, so I guess single group content would be a big plus - but also raids would be good.

Perhaps someone could suggest another MMO other than WoW for what I'm looking for?

I used to play EQ2, quite enjoyed it, was very confusing and hard for me though, in the end had to cancel my account as I was not able to afford to pay the monthly charges.

Try the play the Fae trial, you won't be limited to the island that way.

EQ2 is a great game, way way better than it was at launch and it keeps getting better with every update too. There is loads to do and unless you are a hardcore 24/7 player it will take you a good while to see it all.

I used to play EQ2, my housemate still does. He is the best of his class on his server, as was I when I played. I stopped playing because I wanted to try some other games, but if I were to go back to a fantsy MMO then EQ2 would be my first choice! The raids are the best I've seen in an MMO, some of the higher end stuff being a real challenge.

One pretty major bit of advice though, make sure you play on the Nagafen PvP server!

I played EQ2 since launch, up until about 6 months ago. It's been the MMO i've enjoyed the most, I really lke it. I gave it up due to family commitments etc, but if I had more time i'd consider playing it again.

I played several classes, solo and group, with the occasional raid. All good fun. Not tried LOTRO but it seems to be ok. Played the WoW trial, but didn't like it all that much.

Dark Age of Camelot is good, although the EU servers are dead, you would be best off playing on the US servers.

The PVP system is the best yet, nothing comes close.

Myself and the missus used to play it a couple of years ago. It's very good, although we both found the game-world didn't really pull us in.....it didn't seem to have much atmosphere. One good thing about EQ2 (unless it changed since...) is the player base is very mature and civilized - hardly an annoying WOW kiddie in sight :)

Thought i'd hijack this rather then start a new thread. Me and the Wife played EQ2 from launch for about 2 months but went over to WoW. We've since been looking around for something else as Guild Wars isnt cutting it for us and we've done everything else to death. Just a couple of questions:

Are there many / any expansions and are they required to join in with current players?

Are there any new / recent PvE servers with a fairly low average level?

Whats the chances of finding groups at low level?

Is there any chane of soloing through most of the game or is having a group required?

Consider LOTRO aswell cliffy, seems to have a more mature community than wow, and im finding it rather good. Considering i played wow for 2 years straight

How is LOTRO in the later levels. Is it like WOW, as in when you reach your final level there are 5 man dungeons to go through and still plenty of quests, followed by raids.

I always enjoyed Scholo, Strat and BRS at level 60 on WOW.

Theres a few expansions and bonus packs, but the main one for a newbie would be Kingdom of Sky, because you need the expansion to play one of the races available, which is the Fae.

I've not played the game in awhile, and when I did I only stayed for a few months, but EQ2 isn't like WoW, where the subscription numbers warrant opening new servers. So no, you won't find any new servers. :p

VERY low, most people at low levels seems to be people rerolling and getting help from their guild. I sometimes spent days trying to find a group for a certain area without any luck, but I think that was the server I was on.

Like I said I didn't play to the end game, but its possible, but very very boring. You'd get more out of it by finding a group. If you do play try the Nagafen server someone suggested above, it'll probably be easier to get groups.

I'm far from an experienced EQ2 player and i've not played in a long time, so you might find things different now. :p

How are you defining that you were the best on the server?

Tical, Echoes of Feydwer is required for the Fae, not Kingdom of Sky. Retail box of EoF contains all the previous expansions too, although trying to find a supplier who has it in stock in the UK could be an issue.

Ok thanks i think i may give it a go for a month and see, just have to find a decent server.

I'm on Lucan D'lere if you want some help, Nuladen is my main characters name.

There's a dark age of camelot 14 day trial out that my mates wanted to try, giving that a shot.

I used to play that but gave up years ago, almost signed up yesterday but then realised there were only about 600 uk players on spread over 4 servers.

Where does everyone find these women who are into MMOGs and pc gaming even!?

Lol, they hide a lot ;)

My guild has a few lady members and the raiding alliance I belong to has loads, I was pretty shocked when I logged into the Vent server for a raid the first time.
