EverQuest2 or not

EQ2 excellent community, and amasing depth. The only thing that sucks is the graphics engine is absolutely horrible. Probably the most complete fantasy mmo.

Im finding LOTRO ok. But there is no pvp and it feels like theres something missing. Im also finding that those who played on PVE servers in WOW are starting to migrate to LOTRO and the community is nowhere near what it was in beta or first release. Random group invites, slagging off in chat, leaving groups unannounced, general bad etiquette. The same will happen with WAR and AOC. Really am hoping POTBS wont attract the WOW lot.

I used to play that but gave up years ago, almost signed up yesterday but then realised there were only about 600 uk players on spread over 4 servers.

Go to the US ones, classic is fantastic and around 2000 at US prime and 1200 rest of the time.

......And yes if your starting go for the US servers.

EDIT --- Damn thought you was talking about EQ2. Nevermind. :p

How are you defining that you were the best on the server?

Tical, Echoes of Feydwer is required for the Fae, not Kingdom of Sky. Retail box of EoF contains all the previous expansions too, although trying to find a supplier who has it in stock in the UK could be an issue.

If i can get hold of a US key will it allow me to upgrade from the trial? Also the trial installer doesnt seem to take any notice of the install of the original game i have. What would be the procedure to update it without CD's?

OT:

Where does everyone find these women who are into MMOGs and pc gaming even!?

When my gf first saw me playing Asheron's Call (early MMO) she was hooked. Immediately. That weekend she stole the machine and created an account, was up all night playing it.

Years on we've tried others. EQ2, WOW etc. They always seem to lose their appeal somehow. EQ2 ran like a dog back when it was released, and like someone else said seems to lack atmosphere. We played WOW a lot but it's so full of kids and idiots it's not worth playing for us. We'll probably get back into something when there's a really good MMO in the future.

As far as I know it should indeed allow you to upgrade from the trial, but be very sure of what your key is valid for, the digital download versions are for a particular expansion only so if you don't own the original game you still won't be able to play.

Updating without cd's is as easy as running the launcher and logging in, the game will patch automatically with everything needed, although it might take a while.

The trial strangely seems to try and install independantly of the current EQ2 install. I guess i can't download unless i have the base install of Echos? I'm not sure how it will work especially if i already have an account. I've found a couple of places to get a US copy, will that definately work with my UK version?

Cliff, I think it's so cool Jodie plays as well. My Mrs was never interested in DAOC - probably one of the reasons we got divorced TBH :)

Hope you're all keeping well!

Kind Regards,

John.

Aye it is, i'm very lucky :). Can see how would case probs if she didnt though :(.

Nice to see you about still, we'll keep an eye on MSN for you.

5th Anniversary Edition of DAOC (includes all the expansions) for € 28 from a canadian retailer. Bargain :)

Worst thing I ever did was move to the euro version, looking forward to this now.

Played EQ 2 for about 6 months none stop when it first came out.. it was a great MMORPG .. but alas as with all games you eventually get to see it all and get to and uber class..

Although saying that there was still a lot of classes and areas i never got to vist and lots of add-on island are coming out all the time.

If you stopped playing six months after it came out then there is a shed load of stuff you wont have seen by now, not to mention that your uber character will now be a reasonably well equiped mid level one :)
