Due to me having a problem booting up (I wouldnt get display) i took the graphics card, plugged into onboard, out and powered up the PC.
i heard a 'click' sound, it sounded a bit electricial so i turned off the computer asap and i heard a smell of burning plastic or so, it came from the RAM and CPU area.

So now I have a faulty PSU to send off, and my power killed the CPU and ram ?

What do i have to do to just have a working PC ? ridiculous tbh...
 
Sounds a bit serious if you're hearing burning smells :). sounds to me that you should try a different psu and swap components out if you are still having no joy to establish what else has gone.

Well if I smell the burning stench then what is the cause of it ? im RMAing the PSU but im worried about other components
 
You must be the unluckiest bloke in the history of building PCs, not very helpful post I know, sorry, but had to point that out, in case you hadnt realised :D
 
Sorry to hear things are still bad for you. Very unlucky. I think what needs to be done is get the RMA on the PSU and wait for a new one. Once it arrives completely disassemble your computer and take all parts out of the case. Build it outside of the case or if thats not possible with as many of the case panels removed. Only attach the bare minimum that you need to begin with. So no extra pci cards and use on board graphics card. Unlikely that a PSU fault would damage the CPU/RAM it may have been from the PSU itself. I wouldnt touch that PSU for the time being and wait for a replacement! Hopefully your luck will change soon.

Thanks a lot mate, you gave me hope. all I can do now is wait I guess
 
You continued to try and boot your PC with a PSU that you previously dropped, after which it made buzzing noises and didn't work!!?? Please apply more common sense!:) Hopefully the smell was something in the PSU finally letting go and letting out the magic smoke.
