EVGA 3080

EVGA RMA centre in Germany now I have been reading?

One guy said they reimburse shipping?

Or will ocuk help out?

Still likely to go with them.

Yeah that was me, had a live chat with EVGA last night. Was shocked to hear they shutdown UK RMA centre when it was only open for 4 nearly 5 years. Their response on shipping costs to Germany was "you ship to us and we only cover one way shipping back to you".

I doubt OcUK would help. I had a potential fault with my mobo 2 days ago, OcUK said I had to pay shipping for them to test and send onward to ASUS for repair/replacement if needed. I asked OcUK if they could offer a prepaid label and was told no.

I'm still tempted with EVGA... But just depends on pricing as €25 for 5yr extended warranty plus £20+ shipping you may as well say your cost is purchase price plus £50 for a real comparison if you want 5yr warranty and have to use it.

Zotac, 5 year warranty at no extra cost and do have uk based rma.

I think it's one of the better looking cards. You're right about the red though, but I'm sure you could turn it off or unplug it.
3x 8pins is a little annoying, but it's there to allow better overclocking. Worrying how much power this might draw though, and how much heat it could kick out.

In the video it definitely looks like the red is permanent and plastic.

yeah I had to ship a PSU back to EVGA and with the weight it cost me £28. And like you say the 5 year warranty costs extra.

These companies seem to change the location of their RMA centres on a yearly basis. I would put no faith whatsoever in a UK based RMA centre being around for the 5yr duration of a warranty.
I’m not saying it will, but surely better to buy from a supplier that currently is and does not charge extra for the additional warranty.

You know I remember doing the same with an EVGA PSU now 4-5 years ago. To EVGA's credit they gave me a brand new and slightly higher wattage model, as it was discontinued.

But yeah it was annoying paying £20-25 to ship it over... That's the only gripe, otherwise EVGA do seem very good.

I'll stick with Gigabyte I think, may consider the Zotac model if reviews are good.

Quick play on parcel 2 go just now who I've used a lot for domestic shipping.

3kg parcel 45*45*20cm box £11-12 delivered (economy) to Germany with a big name company.

Not too bad actually and only a bit more than domestic UK shipping.

Much better than the last time I had to ship. I think i used UPS with insurance which is why it cost so much.

Yeah apart from not liking I had to pay for shipping, I was quite happy they replaced my discontinued 750w with their newer 900W PSU.

Yeh I'm usually baller and go without insurance for domestic at any rate!

Mate had an EVGA PSU fail, RMA gave him more powerful one as replacement.

Im left wondering about the lack of any FTW3 cards on the page, other etailers also dont have them listed but over on the EVGA forum they state clear as day its available day 1.

In recent years though EVGA have ignored the UK and some degree even Europe. It was over 3 months last time before Nvidia allowed FTW boards to be supplied to the UK. All the boards they made went to satisfy US pre-orders.

So the 3080 FTW might be available from day 1 - if you live in the US.

Ohh darn, I was really set on getting one of those from the drop.... My strategy is out the window. Time to do some more research, perhaps Zotac could be my runner up for the XC3 card..... I actually wanted the 3080 FTW3 Hybrid card but I can't justify waiting for one of those right now. I need to get a new card in and if rumours are true surrounding no stock available after the first batch into 2021 I'll really be SOL......

I have always loved the EVGA FTW cards and had a pre order in last for a 2080ti. But the information EVGA kept supplying on expected delivery dates was appalling and the final straw was their twitter feed updating every few days that another few hundred had shipped to the US and zero to the UK.

The FTW AIB card is one of the only custom AIB I would consider buying normally. That and the Zotac AMP but they arent likely to be available at launch date either, just the more normal ones.
