EVGA 570 failed & Warranty problems

Hello

Yesterday my EVGA 570GTX randomly crashed, fan stopped spinning so looks like card is duff. (bought March 2012)

Contacted EVGA, I have to cough up 400 pounds to get a replacement card and then wait 4 weeks for a refund to my card if faulty or I've got to post it over to Germany insured at own cost and wait 4 weeks for a replacement.

I am unhappy about this, wondered if anyone else had EVGA warranty problems or 570 failures?
 
it's common (as in all manuf's) to have to send off the card for testing and wait for a replacement... I bet they said "up to 4 weeks" didn't they?

400 pounds sounds a bit steep for a replacement though

have you contacted the shop you bought it from? under UK law they are liable to deal with the warranty (so the cost of shipping to germany will be theirs)
 
I think he means to buy a replacement and send the broken one off for a refund?

To send stuff back like that is however standard practise. Best to contact the retailer if you bought it from one, and don't take no for an answer, because they are legally obliged to deal with your warranty for the first year.
 
Well its OCUK but EVGA said after 31 days have to use them

I thought 400 pounds for a 570 is unacceptable , they said up to 4 weeks but normally 3 weeks. Posting it to germany is going to cost abit of money with insurance and me footing the bill was slightly unfair.

Return it to where you bought it,
As they should deal with it for the first 12 months atleast.

What is the £400 supposed to be for?

You also need to not accept that answer, ring them back and tell them you know your rights, and that they have to deal with the warranty for the first year at least.

There's a shocking contrast between what phone staff at OcUK say, and what people like 5UB says. I've lost count of the amount of times some one has complained about something and he's had to fix it for them.

He seems to pride himself on good service, others, maybe not so much.

yeah, I got that... EVGA will usually "cross ship" e.g. let you buy a replacement while yours is out for repair... but £400 for a 570 is ludicrous, you could buy a 570 elsewhere for much less and then you could always sell the replacement (which should be boxed new) to recoup your money if you really didn't want to be without a card for up to 4 weeks
 
They will send our a new graphics card straight away and wait for mine (and reimburse) back OR i have to send it to evga in germany (at quite a cost) and await for them to repair etc
 
I too am annoyed that I have an option of having a replacement card and paying collateral for it that means I have something I can use while I wait however many weeks for the one I send off to be replaced.

I did this recently with my EVGA 690. Paid for cross-shipping, sent mine off when I received the replacement, had negligible downtime. Just stick it on your credit card, you'll probably get the refund from EVGA before you have to pay it off.
 
EVGA said about 5 days on average which is not bad, aslong as you have another device you can use. I was not giving up 400 pounds for weeks for a card less then 6months old under warranty and not outdated. I'd rather wait, but EVGA people beware!
 
I've returned one of mine and was told by the retailer 3-5 weeks,

I should have paid for cross shipping,

but if they don't find anything wrong you end up with two cards
 
Well that's EVGA on my list of "Avoid like the plague manufacturers".

Absolutely shameful service if you ask me.
