evga 680i board raid question

When installing my 2 drives for raid, do i use 2 primary sata ports or 2 side by side which would be primary then secondary.

Also the port numbers do not seem to corrispond with what the manual says,are they number'd 6 towards top of board working down until 1n2 are piggy backed.
 
You can use any pair as long as you enable the specific ports for RAID in the BIOS. And yeah the port numbers are all mixed up, use the drive list at BOOT to give you an idea of the numbering.

Nope... all the ports effectively work off the same bus, each with their own channel.

For two drives - you can plug them into any two ports, raid them up and there will be no performance difference whichever ports you plug them into :)

Annoying isn't it I mean how hard is it to get the manual right.
 
I thought there would have been info on jumpering on the board to,but only the basics, Not to impressed with evga board at moment,as it seems i got to rma it now.

What i done was plug the 2 raid drives into the SATA slots that face you on the motherboard, they are numbered 1 (top) to 4 (bot), i plugged them into 1 and 2. Enabled RAID in the bios and disabled 0 primary and 0 Secondary, enabled the other 4 , for 1 and 2.

Then set the RAID up in the raid options, i also use a third harddrive for backups which is connected into one of the two SATA slots on the side of the motherboard.
