After upgrade, my gpu is running with just the vga cable from psu into the gpu.
Is that normal? and is it ok to play games?
Its screwed my pc over as my bios screen takes like 5 minutes to load but i belive thats because my bios is 2 years old and need supdating, but i cant because the 5 minute wait wont let me access bios... buts thats another story.

The pc is reading under device manager that i have it installed.

Question is, will i be able to play games with no pci-e slot into gpu only only the 1 vga cable attached? i dont want to start playing and find im killing my pc.

----- Im not using the pci-e cable because
1. it wont fit into the psu slots, only the psu's cpu slot.
2. my computer wont start at all with it connected.

i'd try to help...

...but i have no idea what you're on about =x
i'm guessing its something to do with the power connectors?

So your card is running, but without the 8 and 6 pin connected? Didn't think that was possible, thought only your fans would spin if you tried booting without no power cables connected.

I'd say your first step is remove card,, use the onboard gpu and sort your pc out, bios etc
Then retry your card if that fails google/look in your instructions what cables are called what and report back :)

I would say on such a power hungry card to have the connectors plugged in.

[/IMG] the vga at the bottom had both ends in the gpu. Which got the pc running no pci-e cable used, the pci-e cable fits into gpu 6 pin but at the other end it won't fit into psu, only in the cpu slot of psu which causes my pc not to turn on

I am a Noob at this as I was not the one to put the pc together before this upgrade. So there's a high chance here a certain cable may be going in the wrong place but I'm not sure

I'm not familar with that PSU, but surely at the opposite end of the cables marked 'VGA' should be a solid 8pin, it's the 8pin that will connected to your PSU. TBH mate, looking at that picture, it looks like it's already connected lol.

Both of those cables, the 6+2 and 6 pin connect to your GPU.

Edit: Just looked it up, they're daisy chained, meaning both the connections are on the same cable. the nearest 4 8pin terminals on the PSU (nearest the door) are marked up for VGA, the furthest 2 are marked for CPU.

Those are PCI-E connectors, they simply have VGA written on them to identify that they plug in to the power sockets on the GPU. Yes you require them. The card will without them I think, as it will draw enough power through the PCI-E slot to idle, but as soon as you put any kind of load on the card it will fail. And if you are really unlucky could damage not only the GPU, but other hardware as well. The card requires a 6 and 8 pin PCI-E power connector.

you don't plug the cable in the gpu both ends!!! (so its in a loop)

only one end in gpu other end in psu (for both gpu connectors)

He mentions in part 2 of his post something that makes me think he is trying to plug a PCI-E cable into the PSU's 12v Aux CPU sockets not GPU PCI-E sockets hence it will not fit.

[/IMG] this is the setup I can use to go the pc running, is it correct as I'm getting mixed signals here :-( this is just the 1 cable connected

looks ok but I havnt seen a cable that splits from the first gpu connector plug before

is that all the vga cables you have? can you rrun another one from psu to either of the two gpu power sockets,so each socket has its own cable direct from psu?

No, u can't because it's like the bios freezes when it's on the screen and just loads normally I am unable to access the bios to update
