Regards Sa,

Well a normal quad core i7 (930) at 4GHz is quicker than a 771 Skulltrail clock for clock, so just imagine what one of these babies with two 6 core chips at 4.2GHz each!

There was a nice thread on here where OCUK build one of these babies for a customer, though on air and not water, but there was some nice pictures.

OK, time for me to score some n00b points...
From what i gather these only support Xeon chips right?
Why can't you put i7s on/in this board?
Why make them Socket 1366 if they're separate? Why not 1365 or 1367?
Can you put 1366 Xeons in a 'normal' 1366 board?

Are EVGA motherboard any good these days?
The last one I had was sh... was shocking.

I remember seeing a video on the tube on how to mod an 800D to take this board so quite scary to think something as huge as a 700\800D has to be modded lol. Sadly i don't have the cash laying around right now to buy this though it surely would be fun to have it and play :D

Dear Father Christmas, can i get one of these under my tree, with all the memory banks filled in and the top of the range xeon.......................and in return i promise to leave you a glass or milk and cookies....

(i hope he does not thing, i am asking too much...)

i7 CPUs have a single QPI link which is the link between the CPU and memory. It requires another QPI link (for a total of 2) so it can link to the memory and another CPU.

Xeon CPUs have dual QPI links so they can link to the memory and another CPU.

So using an i7 950 or similar would not work at all, it simply does not have the required hardware for it to operate.

However you can put a Dual QPI Xeon in a standard X58 motherboard, the 2nd QPI link simply disables itself as their is nothing else to link to.

Ah, I see.
Thanks.

Kalvin i think these are boards that if were honest we would all buy to play with if we had the cash but we don't but i bet OcUK will sell at least ten of them and probably quite easily.
