Hello everyone i have bought my new PC parts from here for my new PC gaming rig. I played a few games for a few days but suddenly a problem occur .I realize the FPS go very low and games makes an annoying stuttering. then the whole display turns light green ,blue, yellow, black dots and starts flickering, sometimes changing to pink for a short moment while playing a game and then the screen goes black and BLACK and display a message : " Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered "
I go all over the web i try everything but i have the same problem on both windows 7 and 8 OS. i run my CPU, RAM ,GPU on default speeds (not overclock) on a fresh clean install windows. i have the latest bios update on my mobo and the latest graphic card update from nvidia 310.70.
I've reset the BIOS CMOS already because it might have fixed voltages or something, but still the same problem.
I've tried the latest version of the nvidia driver for the GTX 680 and also an older one that was on a CD delivered with the card. In-between I've used Driver Sweeper to make sure that the driver tried before is completely gone and doesn't conflict somehow. With both driver versions, the exact same problem occurs.
This problem occur in almost all my games: skyrim, mass effect 3, far cry 3, Assassin's Creed III. im not sure if is motherboard or GPU problem but i think is faulty GPU? The computer is brand new and customly built, what do you think guys is the problem? is it time to RMA my card ? im very sad because i spend a lot of money on that PC and is 1 month old . I was expecting more from my new PC with no problems. Here is my specs:

EVGA GeForce GTX 680 SC Signature 2
Intel Core i7-3770K
Asus Z77 Maximus V Formula
Samsung Green 8GB
Samsung 128GB SSD 830
PSU Corsair Professional Series HX850W

download msi afterburner
on the core clock slider, reduce by 100mhz (reduces core frequency)

Try to play a game, see if it happens now. If games play fine like this then rma the card because it can't reach it's predetermined boost, if they crash.. well idk, more fault-finding.

i have the EVGA Precision X install . i try what you say. and ques what happen. the game works fine for 20 minutes with the reduce clock and when i restore the default settings i played the game no more than 3 minutes the screen goes green flicker and black screen and then crash. im very disappointed is seems that is a GPU problem.

yes but for a few days the card was working flawlessly. is a brand new card. now is making this problem every time i play a game . i though those cards was solid

Every cards different and there is always a bad apple, from any company. Doesn't make it any less a good card, just rma it and get a new one :)

+1

I bought a EVGA card a while ago (GTX 690) for which they charge quite a bit extra for (I got it for a good price). I was expecting it to have top notch performance but when I got it and compared it to my Asus cards (which are a lot cheaper) it only just beat the slower one and got absolutely thrashed by the faster one.

The point I am trying to make is with GPUs its all down to the silicon lottery. Sometimes you get a bad one and in your case you should RMA it and get a new one.

If you are set on a GTX 680 have you thought about a MSI lightning - very very fast.

Yep, agree with the other posters - I have an EVGA GTX 680 which has no issues at all since I bought it second-hand.

The artifacting certainly makes it sound like your card is broken - RMA it or get a replacement from the retailer ASAP!

EVGA GeForce GTX 680 SC Signature 2

Probably poorly tested overclock by EVGA, bumping the voltage via evga precision software will most likely remove the problem.

Although considering extra paid for factory overclock; I’d suggest RMA with printed note in box outlining what games/benchmarks will cause the card to display driver crash etc.

As others have said really, I think the whole point of buying an EVGA card is 1 the performance but 2 the warranty. I think they even cross ship for RMA's so you'll not be without your card.

Really the best in the industry for RMA process.

Can you also check your ram timings and voltage is setup correct in the bios and run memtest86
Bad ram can make drivers crash, do you get random blue screen of death?

you can't bump the voltage on these mate

Why not start a ticket with EVGA tech support and get an rMA number, that'll be the fastest way to get anew card

i bought the card from overclokers.uk is brand new card. why not RMA from here?

What sort of temps is it running at ?

on full load i have 60-70 tempts with the fans run on normal speed.

i have already test with the memtest86 no errors found. i have clear cmos so everything is on the default tempts. my ram runs on 1600mhz the cpu is on the default clock the GPU the same. no i don't get blue screen of death

I see you have posted on the EVGA forum too, so probably best to take the advice given there.

here is my post http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1826782 a wise guy there is says that is a virtu problem and the Asus AI suite can make conflict? buy why? is not make sense. i bought a ROG motherboard for those features. why to spend so much money on expensive boards if there make conflict with hardware? and those artifacts on my screen? (blue, green.black dots of flickering? ) is seems is hardware problem. i have used many softwares in the past like Asus AI suite on older boards and i didn't have problems.

yes is the best in the industry for RMA and im outside form U.K . what do you success guys to RMA and take the same card? or another version of gtx 680?

yes i know is a good card but what about the RMA policy? i am outside from U.K and i want to make sure if anything goes faulty in 2 or 3 years to RMA the card back with no problems. im thinking to stay with Evga. or go with another version of Evga gtx680?

what do you suggest guys to do? stay with EVga or go with another brand? and if anyone knows a good program so i can test my RAM,MOBO,CPU to make sure isn't another hardware problem i will appreciate it ? i hope is only the card problem

thank you everyone for your answers.

The situation you seem to have is a card not working for one reason or another, so an RMA looks like the best option, now you have to decide are you going to RMA to OCUK? if so raise a web note on the shop website and to double up you can raise a thread in the CS section of the forum.

Or Direct RMA to EVGA which may or may not be quicker?

It's just 2 choices upto you where to go.

You need to know the stability margins of you cpu and ram, default bios settings are not for proper motherboards, with Z77 there are to many settings to really mess things up. turn off everything you do not use especially on chip GPU.
Do not install all the rubbish on the motherboard CD unless you need it...but what you do need will be out of date anyway !

Clean install and use something like Heaven bench to make sure GFX card can do at least 50mhz over default settings, you will then know if the card is stable.

Everyone is trying to help but you have to much unknown regarding the system. Alternatively test the card in another PC.

I have also found Asus software to be problematical as mentioned on the other forum and stopped using Asus motherboards because they often do unique mods etc often meaning standard Intel drivers do not always work correctly etc, that is not to say you will have problems though.

Good luck to you anyway ;)

thank you everyone for your answers. i will remove any unecessary softwares i will run heavy bench to test my card, if is not stable i will send the card for RMA. Thank you and happy new year
