I always used EVGA cards where possible due to their "mod friendly" policies and outstanding warranty service.

However one of my titans died and got the RMA card back today.

Found this lovely little gem covering one of the screws, a *very* delicate sticker.

Fortunately a bit of ipa, a very thin brush and some patience meant I got it off in 1 piece, but this is the first time I've seen them put such measures on a card.

End of an era?

They have put them on quite a few cards now back to 1080’s I believe.

They use them for a guide nothing more.

I.e - if the sticker has not been removed then they can issue an RMA without the need of stripping and inspecting the card.

If the sticker is removed then they would inspect the pcb for user damage. Cards fault then the RMA would still be accepted and card replaced.

That way they don’t need to inspect every card they receive back for RMA.

As far as I know they are there to show the card has been taken apart and not for a warranty void sticker.

Edit:

They say that here.
