EVGA Pascal cards hotspot problem

Updated thermal pad installation guide from EVGA (includes VRAM pads)

http://www.evga.com/thermalmod/thermal_pad_mod_installation_guide.pdf

If you still see the old one, remember to clear your "recent history" in your WEB browser. Otherwise you can end up looking like a TW@T like I just did on the EVGA forums, by moaning that it still links to the old guide :o Must be my advancing years and far too much alcohol (even if it is my birthday today) :)

Been a strange old day today.

I have been promised a refund and i have had my card over two months.
Just got through to EVGA, ended up diverted to USA customer rep.

The EVGA rep said, they will only provide a full refund IF the card is bought from the EVGA store. Only way I'm going to get a refund is through the retailer and end up paying 10% restocking fee.

Only had the card for two weeks. Garbage. :(

I was in a similar possition, although I didn't care for the refund cause I quite like the card just wanted a brand new one with all the fixes. I am sure you can get that as you are under 30 days.

It's one rule for one person and another rule for another and I've had my card just two weeks. Basically it will cost me £55 to return it including postage, what an absolute joke.

I agree with what others have said, people will be put off buying these cards when you sell them on compared to other brands now the reputation of these cards has been exposed, even with the fixes in place the VRMs still run hotter than their competitors - the design is poor and flawed.

Just wrote this up from a template and rewrote it as I see fit. I think this will do the trick.
Dear Sir or Madam,

The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013

13/10/2016 I ordered the following: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW Gaming Graphics Card. I received the goods on 17/10/2016 on Invoice No: *****

Return's No: *****

Please see attached documents, which refer to EVGA 1070/1080 graphics cards catching fire due to VRM's overheating, which is deemed not fit for purpose.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, I have a legal right to reject goods that are of unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described, and get a full refund. If a restocking fee is charged, I will take this up with trading standards due to the fact it's not fit for purpose and if that doesn't work, I'll pursue through the small claims court even at my own expense just to claim back the full amount.

Under the above Regulations, I would like to cancel the order and ask you to provide a full refund within 14 days.

Yours faithfully,

Brilliant those EVGA stingy *******s should pay for putting customers in situation like that where you constantly thinking is my FTW cards going to stop working today or tomorrow will VRM's set themself on fire running my pc or will they just smoke?. I'ts unnecessary stress completely unacceptable. I'm sure somebody in US will do class action law suit ^.^

Nelly its best to keep things as short as possible with these types of things.

All you have to do is ask for a refund, if the response is negative 'I believe I am entitled to a full refund I will give you 28 days to respond before taking further action.'

If you are thinking of taking legal action you want to say as little as possible and not give the company any insight in regard to being able to defend a claim.

Personaly if I had 1070 I would be getting in touch with the store I got it from, say I am not happy with the hassle of having to r.m.a. or self repair and ask for an upgrade to a 1080 with the fix. I would also avoid discussing the issue online while doing this, keep it private and polite.
