Usually in budget builds a lot of people use the Corsair 430W, however I've just noticed that EVGA do a similar spec'd PSU with an extra years warranty for less money. EVGA 100-W1-0430-KR

Anybody have any experience with EVGA power supplies? I've been a corsair/coolermaster user/fan for a long time.

For the 1st year no doubt through the etailer, after that it would be EVGA direct in Germany. Although dealing with EVGA directly they are quick and on the ball.

Appreciate the feedback, going to give one a go. Got to be worth a shot, cheaper than the Corsair by a few quid and an extra years warranty.

Do they use different manufacturers for the high end and low end though? Am think of the Corsairs where they used Seasonic which were good, and others who were not so good. Wondering if EVGA do the same.

Mhmm interesting point, can anybody shed any light on this?

HEC is quite a large OEM and make psu's for several companies, usually at the lower end of the market. For me that just looks too cheap although it has a stronger 12v rail than the CX430. I wouldn't touch one of those either though. It's just not worth skimping on the psu. A good one will last you years and through several upgrades.

What we need is a better selection of quality smaller capacity psu's, especially modular ones. Not everyone needs a 1kw monster.

Hi, just for your info, we recently showed some new 550W Gold certified silent modular model at CES and it will also get available soon in EU but this is of course way more expensive then the already mentioned models. As I can see this was mainly about the price. We do trust in the quality of our PSUs, also the low end ones, thats why we give extended warrantys. Otherwise we would just damage ourself...

With regards to the better range of smaller capacity psu's, I was referring to OCUK. As you know we can't talk about pricing, availability of products at other retailers and OCUK's range of quality, smaller capacity psu's is sadly lacking.

I get where you are coming from on the quality of your products and I do normally recommend EVGA G2's/P2's over the alternatives, but to make a psu that cheap corners have been cut somewhere such as using cheap caps or similar. A psu is not the place to save money and I firmly believe that it is the single most important component in a pc and is worth paying extra for quality and efficiency.

I see you have some Seasonic built units coming soon as well. Any idea of a UK release date yet?

Of course you are right and a 30 bucks PSU can not be the same quality like a 100 bucks PSU, thats for sure :) For example the 430 is a 80+ model and not B-S-G certified so manifactuing this is cheper but for us it is important that it will still deliver the mentioned power over a long periode of time and also that the lifetime is at least as long as the warranty we do give on it so thats why we put a 3 years warranty with it. The seasonic ones are the one that got shown on CES. At the moment the info is Q1 but there is no fixed date for this. We will take a look into keeping the forums up to date on this.

Pretty sure the 1000 G1 is FSP, but I could be mistaken. I don't see TPU or Jonnyguru having reviewed it so this is based on posts from Shilka and Twerk on OCN.
