EVGA is keeping up its streak of releasing high-end motherboards for processors based on the new Intel Nehalem architecture, with a new dual-socket monstrosity. Slated for CES 2010, not much about this high-end workstation motherboard has been revealed beyond the picture below. From the looks of it, probably EVGA is making a high-end, overclocker-friendly dual LGA-1366 motherboard based on the Intel 5500 "Tylersburg" chipset with the usual ICH10R southbridge. Existing LGA-1366 processors that support dual-socket operation which includes Xeon 5500 series may work on it. Probably, a future high-end Intel Core family CPU is released that is capable of dual-socket setups, too. The picture reveals two LGA-1366 sockets, each powered by an 8-phase digital PWM circuit. Each socket is wired to six DDR3 DIMM slots supporting triple-channel memory for that socket. More this CES.

Do Want

im guessing:
£450 for the board
£1800 minimum for the CPUs
£650 for the memory

and £300+ for a psu that will run the damn thing

It's that old rule from the 1990's - the PC you want always costs £3000.

not quite with you

my estimates are gained from the following

the board is EVGA and the 4way classified cost 400, so it will be 450 Minimum

the cpus will most likely be server grade i7 5 series Xeons or maybe a pair of gulfys, which at a minimum of £800 per chip will bring it to what i stated

then you would obviously put 24gb of dominator GT in there to make it worth bothering with [an underestimation on my behalf] as 24gb of 2000mhz GT will cost a tidy sum of £1200

then you are going to need at least a 1200w pc power and cooling to run it

add in a high end gpu array and 4 SSDs in RAID0

so that is around £6000 for the internals

grab a premium case to fit it in, £200+
add a budget of £700 to watercool the whole thing

there is the pc that you want for £3000
and there is the pc that I want :D

I have one too while you at it :D

So, this is what I want to replace my UD5 with.

On a rather related note, do any of the "cheap" xeon chips clock worth a damn and is there any hope this board will be atx complient? Whatever happened to the Asus version of this

Corrected.

i am not a sales man, i am a hardware enthusiast

the fact that i am employed by OcUK has nothing to do with my love of fast computers [and the inevitably large price tag attatched to the fast computer]
