I am looking at a fault for someone in which the towercase has an EVGA Nforce 780SLi motherboard, i am unsure of the exact model but it has 3 way SLI and cannot see on the board the exact model.

The problem is that it won't power up. I suspected that it might be a faulty PSU but installing a spare one i have has made no difference.

The LED's light up on the mobo when the mains is switched on but simply no response from the power button.

Aparently the system shut down in the normal manner and there has been no warning of anything happening but it won't power up at all.

I suspect a mobo failure of some kind or could it be something else??

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. i am now looking for a replacement board which will work with the other existing hardware. It seems that this mobo has only got a 12 month warranty.

I have had an email back from Dominik asking if i bought the mobo in the EU or imported it so i have replied to that and await their reply.

While i was looking at the manual i noticed that it shows use of the eight pin CPU power cable and this system only has a four pin cable connected and the PSU does not have an eight pin lead.

Could this have been a possible cause of failure?

I thought it would be OK with the 4 pin lead as if i remember correctly the 8 pin is for the Intel Extreme processors needing the 130watt feed.

I have just see the invoice for the computer that contains the dead mobo.
He has been billed for an Asus P5KPL mobo and not EVGA. Also it is only 11 months ito the warranty so i have emaild the place that built it and attached the email invoice of the build and look forward to their reply. it is a place called cyberpowersystems.
All other items listed are correct but they should sort it out as it is only 11 months old.

Just an update on this, the supplier has now got the mobo and has confirmed that it is dead and are getting another identical one from the U.S.A which is where the original came from for some reason. it's been two weeks since i returned the dead mobo so i just need to wait now.
