EVGA Reference 670 - Overheating under load (Accelero Twin turbo 2)

That's weird. Does any part of the heatsink feel warm when the GPU is under load?

How is the card's performance?

Heatsink and heatpipes, cool to the touch. Performance is fine, however because temps rise so quickly and so high, i have not played for long.

It literally jumps from 35 to 70c in a second when running Furmark and then onto 90-100c a couple of seconds later.

This all seems very strange, i will get some thermal paste and re-apply later today.

You've definitely got bad contact, the twin turbo 2 should perform much better than stock cooler. I'd expect it to keep a 670 well under 60 degrees full load.

That's what I was expecting. Will let you know how i get on with the re-application of paste and re-seat.

Thanks for the responses guys, I have now resolved the issue. I changed the spacers to the smaller 1.5m and problem solved. now idling at 28c and maxes out at 45c in furmark. Now to overclock.

Let us know how you get on at overclocking. I am trying to find the maximum stable speeds with mine. Think it's going to be around 1,200Mhz on the core, but I am not sure about the memory yet.

Well i'm at 1228 on the core and 3100 on mem at the moment. Will continue in the week. temps are good though at 53c, 60% fan speed.
