I'm just about to order a 8800 GTS 320mb, and I heard about this step up program.
I've searched through here but can't find a definitive answer.

say I buy the EVGA 8800GTS for £222 from OC.
And in 80 days EVGA have a new 8900 or whatever new card it may be.

So where do I get this new card from? EVGA directly, or I buy the new one from OC and send EVGA the old Graphics card and the difference between the invoices ?

If its EGA directly, do they even have a UK shop? or do I order from the german website?

you register with evga and then apply for a step-up program with them. They'll let you know which step up cards are available...and then you apply for the one you want. If you're accepted they'll tell you how to ship your card in to them and they'll ship you your new card.

but yeah you deal with evga directly.

From what I can remember you only have to pay the difference in price between the card that you have and the card that you want.

are their prices about the same as online retailers, or a lot more?

i forgot..it was awhile ago...but I don't remember their prices being anything out of the ordinary...and yeah you pay the difference...so if you paid 300 quid for your current card and the step-up costs 380 then you send them your card and 80 quid. :)

exactly right, i have EVGA card, step-up is great to have, just incase plus EVGA customer support is good too :)

I'm curious as to how EVGA work out the value of your card. Is it really the difference of the new card you want and how much you bought the old card for, or do EVGA depreciate the value of your card over time?

I've got second chance offer on a EVGA 8800GTX for £330, but i'm not sure whether to wait a few more weeks. I know nVidia won't release the Ultra till the R600 shows itself and i'm guessing from other sites this won't be till May anyway. £330 is a lot of cash, but I can't see the GTX dropping in value at least until mid-end of April.
