Evil Dead Rise

Just back from the cinema and it was pretty good. Without spoiling it, some aspects it was a little underwhelming but in others it was quite well done. Lots of Easter eggs and nods ot the original series. Overall a solid start to the new story.

Started watching it today, I got half way through then went off to do other things, I will finish it though.

I can't agree with the 2013 Evil Dead though, Alvarez did well with that, especially the practical effects and not using CGI. It wasn't crap at all. I rate it pretty highly and echo @SixTwoSix.

yeah same one of the few horror movies i watched in the cinema. Was going in not expecting anything and it was much better than expected.

Would have liked to see prequel movie about the priests uncovering, translating and eventually locking that book in that tomb.

That was good and I'm a big fan of the originals.

Creepy AF and genuinely shook the Mrs - and we've watched loads of horror movies. Probably because no one was off limits, kids too.

It just shows the deadites are still active. Also the ending explains how they came to be at the cabin.

It was also served as a creepy, gory intro to the movie, otherwise it would have started with a bird doing a pregnancy test in a toilet and nothing much happening for 20mins.

haha thats true. I didnt think of that.
 
Meh, thought it was pretty terrible. None of the humour or creativity of the original trilogy.

The TV series was more enjoyable and in keeping with the spirit of the original movies .
