Hi all

My wife bought one of these track day experiences as a Christmas present, apparently it is an EVO track experience - 4 laps of a track with safety briefings and certificates handed out at the end.

Does anyone have any expericence of these types of days recently and was it everything you expected ? I hear negative things about some of these track days particularly with the more expensive car marques and was wondering if the EVO/Subaru ones live up to the hype ?

To be honest in general they're pretty poor value for money, the 'supercar' ones especially because you spend most of your time there in a Scoob before being let loose on the Lambo etc and then the limit the revs to 4k or something daft. :(

The only one I've been on which has blown me away was an event run by Subaru themselves at their proving ground outside Lemmington. It was part of the Richard Burns Foundation charity, and for 50 quid they let you loose on a variety of Subaru vehicles for a morning or afternoon. Each session was on a different part of the proving ground so you got a bit of everything thrown in - 4x4 work, skid pan control in Foresters, high speed track work in an RB320 and Legacy then tarmac rally stage stuff in STi's etc. Was an absolute hoot, and the instructors really encouraged you to push it hard. :)

To be honest though chap, it'll be luck of the draw - but if you're a real driver then I think you'll come away disappointed. :(

Yeah I get that feeling I will be mate, but I'm hoping as its an Evo or Scoob there is a little more leeway for hooning it! Still I guess for the price one can't expect to be Tommi Makkinen for the day

Who's it with?

And is it an actual track or a pretend track on a disused runway layed out with cones?

I think its this one http://www.experiencemad.co.uk/details/index.php?code=JEVO

Not sure about the track layout as there is a choice of 3 or 4 venues

I got a similar pressie, but mine is in a 911.

I get the use of a proper track, i know that. Gonna get it booked up for a few months time.

What is this about the Subaru proving ground outside of Leamington? How often do they have that or was it just a one off thing? Sounds awesome and would be very interested. Any chance of some more information on that?

Stew.

That's the basic gist of it. The low price they had on when I was involved was purely because it was a charity event.

^ That's the track and facilities.

I recently went on the Mitsubishi fleet day, were we had the opportunity of four laps in the Evo 10. As one of the other posts eluded too it didn't last long. Only exciting bit was the other Evo 10 in police livery up your backside with the blues & two's on chasing you.:D
