Ive gone full circle, considering Scoobys, BMW M3s and now back to Evos. Ive decided I dont want to get back into £15,000 odd worth of bank loan, so am thinking of only spending what I get from the sale of my Civic Type-R (about £7000-£8000)

Im considering an Evo, Ive always loved the aggressive styling, like the idea of AWD and lots of noise (BOV, exhaust etc).

Are there many differences on the VII and VIII? Thats my favourite style but am looking for some solid advice from previous owners. Theres many model suffixes too, any advice on what exact model to look for?

Any valid reasons why I should start looking at Scoobys instead...again?

Running costs on my 2004 Type-R are not bad, I'd say about 25MPG, obviosuly less when your in VTEC territory often - which I am :p

Ive just seen a Evo FQ320 when I was out, it was parked up all by itself in a car park. I jizzed in my pants. Awesome machine.

Ive been on and off Pistonheads most of the day, still torn. I love the sound of the flat 4 of the Scoobs, but prefer the styling of the Evo.

Damn it, wish I wasnt so indecisive!

To explain a little better, I have a £10,000 loan. Im hoping to sell my Type-R for £7000-£8000. The plan was to pay off a chunk off my loan, pay the balance within 4 month then get a new loan. Im now planning on something fun and silly as above, then once the loan is paid off within 2-3 years maybe I'll sell and finally get a BMW M3.

I worry a little about a person who has spent all that effort on his scoob and fitted a Pipercross induction kit - there are far better products around. Not to mention the

I'd also want to know the make of FMIC - just because it's front-mount doesn't make it good - the worst front-mounts are not as good as the best top-mounts. If it's a fleabay special it could be a problem. And I'd want to know who mapped it. I'd avoid it and look for a proper bugeye STI - with PPP it should still be about £7k or less.

But that said it's still more car for less money than the Evo. At least go for the MR.

Thanks for the once over mate. I personally hate the bugeye, but loving the Morette headlight conversion on it. With regards to MR, is that the next stepup from the GSR then?

Just had an insurance quote on the Evo above based on fully comp, tracker required, 5 years+ NCB...

£1,081.50

Are they mad. Thats the first time Directline have ever let me down. Erm..Scoob? lol

Just done an insurance quote for the Scoob above, in fairness its only a WRX, but Ive not mentioned its 320BHP so it will be invalid, but just to show...

£404.25
