Example Of An Outlandish New Technology

Some guy built a robot body for cockroaches...

Another guy had electrodes surgically inserted into his brain so he could control a computer by thinking...

Hmm, what else did I see on Discovery last night?

How about a cheap system to remove salt from water sources... or a way to use microbs to make water safe to drink, on the move, cheap and lasts for a long time.

That would be useful.

The N Machine... generates 5x more energy than it consumes, invented in the 70's, sold to Indian Nuclear company and shelved by forces from above.

MRI brain scans that can tell if you are telling the truth, its supposed to work and its not something you can cheat either...

Its amazing if it really does work properly...

imagine a lie detector that cannot be fooled...

Saw something for a piesoelectric cloth the other day than generates useful amounts of electricity by normal movements (e.g. walking would charge your phone).

I like that idea, it's similar to the one where speedbumps go down into the road as you drive over them to generate power for the street lights. Not that you'd ever catch me wearing speed bumps.

Do you think they would improve fitness too - since all the energy comes from body movement, it means that by moving you are doing a bit more work than if you were wearing normal clothes.

Alternatively it could be that walking wearing normal clothes generates friction and heat, whereas the piesoelectric cloth is much more efficient and channels all of that into electricity, meaning you do the same amount of work but generate less heat, so the clothes actually cool you down as well as charge your phone :)

I see penises. :(

That have any relation to Steorn's Orbo?

Yep, sounds like it:

"The DePalma generator is essentially a simple magnetized flywheel, ie a magnetized cylindrical conductor rotating at high speed with the help of a motor."

If it actually worked he could just buy electrcity from the national grid, magic up 5x the ammount and sell it back.

Kincheloe noted that the drag of the rotating magnetized gyroscope is only 13 to 20 percent of a conventional generator operating at an ideal 100 percent efficiency. The DePalma N machine therefore could produce electricity at around 500 percent efficiency.

Someones just their equations muddled up. Making something more efficient by reducing the drag, would push the efficiency up from whatever a conventional generator is closer to 100% efficient. Instead some fruitloop has, I dunno my math is highly rusty, multiplied instead of divided, came up with an outlandish figure, and no-one has bothered to check their sums since. Eg, if a conventional generatror is 80% efficent normally, and this method of reducing the drag is 80% more efficent, then the efficiency is now 94%.
