Hi
I have setup an excel file I want to use to save my contacts in. I plan to use this excel file as my master copy to maintain my outlook contact info and also my phone info (via active sync).
My plan is to save the excel file as a .csv then take that and import it into outlook
The kind of info I am recording in the excel file includes:
first name, middle name, surname, home phone, mobile phone, work phone, work mobile, other phone, street 1, street 2, town, county, postcode, country, home email, work email, other email, notes
Note (and this is my problem) - I want to have all my phone numbers in the format +44(phone number) so that when abroad I wont need to edit before calling
So for example I would have a number in the home phone list of one contact as +44 1234 123456 (no spaces) this is fine in excel but when I export that to .csv this changes to just 441234123456 and consequently when I import this (the .csv) to Outlook the same problem is there (i.e all my numbers are invalid)
I have used this process in the past ok (on my old smartphone) so I must have done something different this time which I cant pin down? I have checked the obvious stuff - I have selected the whole worksheet and changed the cell format for all cells to text type. Is this wrong or does anyone have any other pointers? - I really dont want to hand edit 200 contacts!!!
thanks - Neill
