excel help please with drop down box

HI all can anyone help me with a spreadsheet. im not very good as i dont use them much. iv made a drop down box using the data validation tool. and i have lots of possible football scores, 1-1,1-0.2-1 etc, but when i select the 2-1 score the date appears in the box instead

can anyone help me out. i dont mind emailing it if it helps

Change the cell format from "date" (Excel thinks that is 2nd Jan) to "text".

right click on cell; number; choose "text". click "OK"
or select cells you want, then same.

The validation list probably needs to have the scores as text - precede each with a single quote.

If still having trouble then: delete the entry in the cell with the drop down. Format the cell as text, apply the data,validation.
