in the arse of england.
why for the love of god does it want to close EVERYTHING ???

for example... I open 2 excel documents, i finish on one and save it... close it, and it then asks me if i want to save the other document before closing ? i click cancel and it keeps both open.

another example is i can only see 1 Excel spreadsheet at a time ? i want to have multiple excel windows to make copying and pasting easier but oooooo no. that would be far too simple.

please someone help me before i print out a Microsoft logo and defecate all over it in the middle of my office.

Excel is probably the best product in the Office suite... You can do some amazingly powerful stuff with it.

All you have to do to view more than one excel file at the same time is to make the workbook smaller that way you can view two or more at the same time.

My biggest bugbear with excel is multiple documents. Not really a problem when you have one monitor, but I can't have one excel document on one monitor and a second one on the other - it just can't be done.

Anyone know a solution to that one?! Word can do it!

Under 'Window' there's a command called 'Compare Side By Side with....' click it!! :)

(this is in my Excel 2003 BTW)

I can just go start -> excel... this opens a window... then start -> excel and this opens a second instance of excel?
It doesn't, it opens another document within the instance already open. You get another task bar, but it isn't another instance like in Word.

This isn't a problem unless you've got dual monitors, to be honest. And as Burnsy has said, this isn't the behaviour of Excel 2007 (just checked!).
