Hi All,

Im in the process of moving a lot of data to a new server, and have hit a rather big wall!

I have a number of Excel spreadsheets which have links to other Excel documents.

In the original location they are ok they open and save/close fine. but when they are copied to the new location, they open ok, but saving them takes over an hour!

Obviously this will just cause too many headaches, but I cannot leave them on the old server as I would like to throw it out soon due to its ageing hardware...

I have tried looking at the links. remaking them. doing a save as to copy them to the new location. have even tried copying them to a total different location altogether but they only appear to work from the original location correctly.

Is there anything I could try. I have search the net for an answer but can only come up with ways to speed up excel which doesnt help.

Weird issue, you sure its fine when you open the file?

I mean the links could be to the old hardware, which is taking ages to load up?

Or B, you have some macro's in the file, and for some reason its linking back to your old stuff?

No dont think there is any macros that link like that, as the seperate excel files are link in excel itself, and it was linking back to the old location surely it would fail not just take as long as it does.
