So got this problem with one of our users that I have never come across before.

They have access to a network drive which is mapped via login script. However if they double click the xls file from the network share, Excel will open but no file will be displayed.

If they then click "Open" in Excel then browse to the network drive and open the file it works.

Have done the usual restart the PC thing, other users do not have this problem.

Normally we would delete the user profile and start over, but due to software running on the machine this is not really possible.

Do not suppose anyone has come across this before?

Thanks

Kimbie

not seen it before, but it must be the file association thats up the spout, compare a working one to a non-workign one see if there is a difference..

make sure its xls files and not xlsx (that would be a different association)

also check you have the latest office service pack (could be some weired bug)

Yes, seen this before. Depending on which version your using you need to go into the options and untick 'ignore other applications' and it will then open from explorer again.

Theres a ms fixit here ...
