Just check out this email I got today -

Edit - removed, as it was pointed out, and quite rightfully as well, that what I've done is actually in poor taste and is no longer deemed funny, in fact wasn’t funny at all when put into the right context, or even relevant.

I've still got an active account on match.com, online dating. This has to be the best email I've received from the service to date. Obvious scam, but really. You'd think they would learn to turn the caps lock off before chucking the text through a text translator..... slopply scam, no marks for style..!!

Can't for the life of me though see what they are at first trying to do, I know they pull these scams to get a valid email or something, but this one seems so random..!! Very odd..!! Unless this is real, and then it just makes me wonder what institute this match.com member's just been released from..

:D

:D

A translator wouldn't spell things wrong, maybe she's just stupid?

This is her profile, there are more pictures if you login, all of them seem to be photographs of professional looking oil paintings /portraits..!! That is so odd, never seen that before, saw one profile where they posted up a picture of their passport.. lol

It is just soooo odd... Least she or whoever managed to type in the profile using lowercase.... Etiquette on this one is erm, questionable.. :D

I’d bet this profile is down by the end of the week, emailing everyone, I guess if I replied, I’d get asked for all sorts of private info, even perhaps re-directed to a website asking for me to pay for something, and get scammed..

Half tempted to reply, and see what comedy value I can get out of this one..:D

From looking at that I can't really see anything that says fake or scam. Looks genuine to me.

You're way too paranoid.

for fun:

guess whos coming to dinner
my job:

Iam a postwoman
favorite hot spots:

my favorite holiday was a cruise round the med it was nice waking
up in different places
favorite things:

the meal i like most is stew and dumplins favorite colour blue
I like to listern to 60s 70s and 80s music

The last book i read was harry potter and the deadly hallows

That really doesn't look like something a scammer from Nigeria would write?

I think it's genuine.

Perhaps..?? But, then again I've had a lot of emails that are kinda like this, and I'm always a bit sceptical... Especially without a digital picture of herself that is not an oil painting, that is really odd, isn't hard to get a picture of yourself, heck, just point a mobile phone at yourself, job done..

Oh and in the email she said she was getting her own place..

In her profile it says:

My Place: Live with parents/extended family

I don't think a scammer would take on the appearance of a (no offense intended here) but average looking woman, who lives at home with family, and is 31. They'd be a 25 year old student, hot photo etc...

Yeah, you should reply for comedic value, like bating scammers.

She/he looks WAY too much like a tranny.

Well from going by her profile she seems quite shy, secluded, living with parents still! It's not suprising she's resorted to a dating website, she also says she's never been married, she reads harry potter too.

She's probably shy and resorted to posting a photo of a photo -

A. because she probably doesn't know how to scan it,
B. because maybe she's so shy that she's only happy with that photo
C. because she's too shy to put up a photo of her posing.

I see your point on being sceptical, but I don't see anything incriminating there.

Apart from maybe the daily diet of Meat and Potatoes! :D
