Hi all, I’m after abit of advice, I keep getting BSOD, saying exception thread not handled and then below that it says “amdkmdag” it has a .something after it but never quite caught it, I’ve done a clean uninstall and reinstall of the latest graphics drivers , but as I’m new to pcs I’m not sure what else to do, could anyone please possibly help? Thankyou

If you have a spare drive, replace your OS drive with it and do a clean install of windows to see if its hardware or software related. Or take an image of it with something like Macrium reflect.

If it still fails then at least you‘ve not lost your OS. Just a process of elimination.

Amdkmdag.sys is part of the AMD driver suite. What’s your system specs? You say you’ve done latest video drivers, but if you are on a Ryzen based system it might be a chipset driver issue rather than video.

+1
The root cause of a system crash is not always in the driver stated in the report.
Look in the event log - details should the there.
Also make sure you get a memory dump from a crash. Download WinDbg from the Microsoft SDK. Sometimes it reveals good information from the dump.

Can you give us some context:
- Is this a new PC just assembled, or an old one that was working fine?
- Has anything significant been changed lately? (either software, or hardware)
- Does the error occur in any scenario e.g. only when idle, or only when gaming?

Sorry for the late reply , I didn’t get notified that anyone had replied, the PC was assembled in September , nothing significant has changed and it occurs just when idling, I uninstalled the newest graphics driver and installed the previous one, and I haven’t had the problem since doing this, so maybe it’s something in the latest driver causing this bug.

You still only mention the graphics driver. What about everything else?
I wouldn’t know how to find a fault if it were anything else, as I say I’m new to computing , my chipset driver is up to date, and as I said in a previous reply I’ve reverted back to the graphics driver I was on before this newest update and I’ve not had a problem so far, I read it could be a RAM issue because of amd expo but I did that the moment I booted up and it’s never caused an issue before
