Excess Profit:

It was a Greek broadcasting company, but yes she won the case. Not sure what Sky's next move will be on their most valuable asset though...

People often for home use do this, I'm not even sure if it's illegal or ever has been.

That's not quite true: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/jun/30/sky-raises-prices

So basically Sky screwed their own customers so they could screw BT even more. That only happens in monopoly-land. Not that BT are angels in this regard, they probably invented such tactics.

It was perfectly true. Sky increased it's prices due to increased costs and wholesale prices adjusted accordingly.

The reason for the price increase is that Sky will be offering more games come the next Premiership season, which starts in mid-August.

That's the way it works.

BT was charging less than Sky at retail, so it is it's own fault, not Sky's.

If they make excess profit, doesn't that leave the market open for alternatives?

nope - as they've got exclusive deals with 6 big Hollywood studios they've effectively got a monopoly - which is why the regulator has stepped in
