Also I tend to disable Windows Defender on windows7, as that has a habit of taking stupid amounts of cpu time, plus you can always use the guides on black viper to disable any other services, you don't need.

And if you require a antivirus product, I would use microsoft security essentials and nothing else.

Recently put a ssd (a vertex2) and windows 8 enterprise trial on a very old atom netbook, booted to start screen in 12 seconds :P

According to Crucial's memory advisor (can't link, as competitor), the computer will take 2GB - you just need to remove the 1GB stick and replace it with the 2GB stick.

Google should reveal plenty of guides on how to upgrade the memory. It's usually a case of undoing a couple of screws from underneath that hold the keyboard, slide some notches along the keyboard to release it and the memory slot should be available to you.

As Devrij said its easy

Open the hatch (4 screws) check the memory type, order a replacement 2GB stck of the same timings, on receipt close down, remove the battery, open the hatch, remove the ram (look for a "clip" that releases the ram) remove, replace with new, check the clip has actioned close hatch replace battery reboot

job done - about 3 minutes for a first attempt :) all you need is one small cross head screwdriver

1gb is crap for win7 even 32bit, my missus SFF had 768mb when i brought it and its running 32 bit vista HP and i upped it to 1.2gb and made a small difference for a short time, then i noticed you need atleast 1gb for that version of windows, so now upped it to 2gb(max supported) and runs much better, a lot of things are smoother to run..

win7 32 bit requires 1gb too and 64bit 2gb, so if you can max that ram out...

question, you had as many processes as i have currently(if not few more) and i did a reset of the OS as at the time i had nearly 100 oops! and im wondering how you got it down to 40?? mean ive had my laptop for 3-4yrs and its a good spec with 4gb ram and 64bit win7, so the number doesnt really matter as such, but i do know the amount is abit high...
