When travelling at 70mph+ I get excessive wind noise/drone coming from the rear of my car.

I haven't always noticed it which leads me to believe it hasn't always been present.

I did have the rear bumper resprayed the other week so it was removed, I have checked all the fittings and wheel arch liners and they all seem to be fitted fine although one or two screws missing (crappy plastic screws hold them in). They are secure though and not flapping about.

I am pretty sure it is not a mechanical problem although this could be possible. I have had front wheel bearings go before and they made a different noise to this.

The car as most of you know is a Mk2 Mondeo Estate.

Any ideas on what this could be as it's quite annoying when doing a motorway run.

Thanks.

I had a similar problem on mine, turned out when i had the front screen done the autoglass monkey didnt put the bead back on properly

But my betting is that ruby you had the night before is reacting badly :p

Have a similar problem in my Golf, get excessive wind from my drivers door, but turning the music up drowns out the noise.

It's not a whistling noise. More of a drone.

Imagine you had a bucket tied to the roof and the wind was "whooshing" into it. That's what it would sound like.

try jacking the back up and check for play in the wheel bearings. Also check your exhaust hangars :)
