Hi guys.
I've just performed the Disk Clean-up on Windows 7 64-bit then I defragged. Standard system maintenance stuff. This time though, it appears that I touched a nerve because after the maintenance, the hard disk proceeded to thrash away (solid orange light) for the next 20 minutes. Resource Monitor showed the culprit as svchost.exe writing to c:\system volume information\{large hex value}. After the 20 minutes, the reduced OS footprint was almost the size as what it was before. I doubt that it's a virus as I'm protected and I think the OS is just shadowing itself. I mainly wondered what the significance of writing to the aforementioned folder for so long?
Cheers.
