Exchange 2010 - deleting emails of a certain age

On Exchange 2010 is it possible to do either of the following?

1) When emails get of a certain age in a specific mailbox they are automatically deleted

2) When a mailbox gets to a certain size the oldest emails are automatically deleted to bring it under the maximum mailbox size.

You probally can do though you do risk the rage of users be implementing something like this.

Getting a proper archiving solution would be a better option, I believe with 2010 you can now do Archive Mailbox instead of archive file.

For the second you can use the Archiving features of Exchange 2010 in line with a retention policy. I haven't done exactly what you are asking but it is possible.
