$ exchange rate.

And if anyone could answer that with a definate, they would be a millionaire by now.

If you want my opinion - wait until as close to your holiday as possible.

I 'believe' it will get over the $2 mark around July time again. Possibly $2.08.

But thats just my guess. It could always go the other way, as the world economy is pretty unpredictable these days.

And as for cash/Cheques - take enough cash to do you a few days - I never bother with Travellers Cheques as they are too much hassle and the rates are usually rubbish. I always use a Nationwide Visa debit card with no fees ( You will currently get $1.98 - April 10th rate from a no-fee ATM in the US ) - VERY hard to beat !

Not dollars but with regards to Euros, I am considering getting some now as having had a look at a graph of exchange rates, it's going down steadily.

Get your euros now!

As for dollars, I don't know... I would imagine there won't be much in it.

US$ travellers cheques for Vegas, the casino cages do not charge to change them

ATM charges can be very high in Vegas

Seriously don't bother changing currency now. Even if you make a modest gain on the exchange rate, the loss of interest that you could have earnt on savings over the next 4 months will eat into that.

When we went to the US we just got a wedge of cash shortly before leaving and then used my partners HSBC debit card at HSBC ATMs. Got a very good rate close to $2 and no fees.

Thats the business rate or something like that. Add fees/tax and Travelex give you 1.92

bank card sounds tempting but like rotty said the fees in vegas might be high.

it depends on the machine, I know of a couple which charge only $4 per transaction, others charge as much as 10%

2-3 k is no problem

we aren;t in the Bellagio thi time, having 3 nights downtown at the Golden Nugget followed by 9 at the Platinum, the Platinum offers huge suites for the cost of a decent room and is 10 mins walk from the junction of the strp and Flamingo (the junction where the Bellagio is )

For the sake of £60-100 for every £2000 you change, I'd probably buy now. The way in which the UK/American economy appears to be going doesn't look good, and $1.92 isn't to be grumbled at imo :)
