I am currently having a debate with myself with what phone to get. An iPhone 4 or and htc Desire.

I hope that this thread can become some kind of review thread where people can see which apps are exclusive to a specific OS, which will hopefully help them decide to go down either the Android or iOS4 route. I imagine there are, and will be in the future, lots of people who are deciding between these two Operating Systems.

I think that we can all agree that both phones have there pro's and con's in terms of hardware and functionality etc..., but the issue that I am interested in right now is;-

Which apps are exclusive to a particular OS and what do they do?

I'll give an example (I'm leaning toward the iPhone today :p)
iOS4 - iPod - The iPod app allows an iPhone user to listen to all their music using Apples familiar interface. Its also supports other stuff that I don't know about because I've not got one...

Lame review I know, but its an example of the kind of thing I'm after.

When we get conflict over exclusivity of an app, rather than argue about which is better, or how different they are, can we just say that 'iPod isn't an exclusive iOS4 app because Android has an app called Music which does the same thing'

There is a music player app called btunes for Android that is styled to look like the iPod interface. :p

Add that with the new feature of syncing Android with iTunes and you have something that's quite competitive against iPod.

Is btunes worth paying for over the free players such as the defualt one, doubletwist, tunewiki etc?

I use a program called 'iTunes sync' to sync my playlists with my galaxy s which works well (more slimline/reliable than doubletwist).

The default one is pretty similar anyway. Does album art, cover flow, scroll by first letter etc. Not sure what else could be different!

What music app do you use on the galaxy s? the default one?

I've only just got my galaxy s so experimenting atm. Switching between the default one, tunewiki and double twist currently.

Thing is I only have one playlist I normally use for portable music players, which is a 'My Top Rated' one @ ~8gig, so I wouldn't say I need an especially fancy music player.

I see, I myself am currently evaluating several players, having come from an iPod touch...still to get comfortable with one..

Yeah, I use itunes as my music player on my pc and have used an ipod nano for the past few years so in the same boat as you :D

Tempted to try btunes, just don't really want to pay for it if it ends up being like every other music player...

isnt it only a quid or something ?

its near identical to the iphones music player.

You can always get it refunded if you don't like? most apps allow that within 7 days of purchase.

Audiogalaxy on android, is all you need.

Stream all your music directly from your pc, where ever you are.

Not too great if you are doing a lot of wondering around, but ideal if you are sat in a cafe etc.

Main apps I used/use on iOS:

Spotify
Photoshop mobile
Kindle
Marvel
Flixster
Shazam
Hipstamatic
Lonely planet guides (Free thanks to Mr Eyjafjallajokull, although they run like a dog on the older iPhones)
+ A few cheep games

Main apps I use on Android:

Spotify (Cracking on Android + still 1/2 price as you can 'go offline' for 1 month just before your sub ends :))
Photoshop mobile
Kindle
Flixster
Shazam
Colornote (standard note app)
Google Navigation (to tight to buy a nav app on iOS )
+ A few cheep games
(I'm sure the others will follow soon, esp as Android phones have started outselling iOS phones)

Edit: + loads of different widgets.
