Hi all and happy Christmas,

I have my home network all set up. My computer and a server (running windows 10 server edition) both in separate rooms. the server is tucked out of the way and not instantly accessible. when i am managing game servers i have to keep going between the rooms to run executables. to save me getting up and turning things on and off, is it possible to run programs on the server from my other computer through the network with no additional software?

Thanks!

Why not enable remote desktop on the server?

Then when needed too you can connect to it from your other PC or any other PC on the network

You can run stuff via CMD/PowerShell remotely by command line BUT you are best off with a remote desktop solution.

You need windows 10 pro to remote desktop using the standard tools. I suggest something like teamviewer or vncserver/viewer. Client/Server type should do it.

Windows 10 pro with the built in remote desktop and security measures in place is probably better than having something VNC based unless you really know how to secure it - which this thread suggests might be a complication. Neither is great if you don't have a reasonable understanding of security.

Do you know that they use windows 10 pro? I mean - they are running game servers so they must know right? amaright? amawong?

Windows 10 Server Edition you say? I'm going to enjoy this :D

It's probably windows 10 home edition on a desktop running as a server

Yes it is possible. If it were not, server admins would have to travel all over the world to physically be beside a server to run things on it.
Sounds like you are new to this kind of thing. Look up remote desktop would be a good start. There are in truth, multiple ways computers can interact on a network though.
