Exhaust "flap" stuck open - issue?

Nope, the exhuast makes no noise whatsoever.

This contrasts with the 330Ci and the Z4 3.0i which both have a rather nice sounding exhaust.
Cheers, often wondered about that.

My quest to find somebody who can fit a custom exhuast which sounds exactly like a 330Ci has so far not been succesful. They all seem to do MASSIVE NOISE MAN.

So, possibly, to get that nice "BMW 6 Sound" from our cars, I have to possibly use a 10p screw or indeed a 10p Golfing Tee(!) and you have to spend perhaps, £700 at a guess on a custom system!

Ouch! Thats not fair mate!

The more I think about this, the more I'm sure my car's flap is probably working just fine and making it quiet for me, so fingers crossed, I'll be getting that lovely initial startup sound that I get all the time! - I feel like a kid prior to Christmas! :o deary me! :o

Sumiyaka @ Doublebois, Liskeard.

They will do EXACTLY what you want.

Best option is to take someone with a 330Ci with you.

Finally got round to doing this little mod this afternoon - pulled off the hose & put a screw into it -, and having now driven the car about 40miles thus modded, I think I like it.

Said screw in vacuum pipe.

My flap... :o

No visible screw hanging from exhaust....

And yes! when the hose is attached, the flap is open when the engine is off and closed 2 -3 seconds after starting, now its constantly open as per the mod. :)

The note of the exhaust is deeper, slightly more intrusive tbh but very "old BMW 6 esque" if you follow.... Reminds me of how the old e21 323i used to sound. Overrun / part throttle sounds lovely. :)

Very happy overall, my M52 finally sounds like you'd expect it to!

:)
