Expensive mistakes you've made because of stupidity

Many years ago I blew my PSU by switching the "switch" on the back.

Who could resist seeing how well you computer ran at 110v. I mean, it must be amazing right?

Only £70, but it felt like a lot of money the time.

ON holiday in the Florida keys.....2 jet skis, one young idiot, an ex girlfriends father in-law (almost killed) the young idiot getting arrested/charged and locked up for a night for riding dangerously and a big bill for 2 wrecked jet-skis, a hospital bill and police fines!.

26 years ago

Dropped a 3 phase inverter panel at work whilst trying to fix it to the wall off a step ladder when I was an apprentice cost my boss nearly 2 grand to replace

At least it wasn't my money

Driving inappropriately for the conditions and wrecking my car when I was younger would be mine. Thankfully only my car was involved.

The only one i can remember is quite recently leaving my gym MP3 player in my track suit bottom and forgetting it's there, then it got washed. £100 down the drain :(

Many many yeas ago I had a Subaru Impreza that the electric windows had packed up on, sent it off to the main dealer to get it fixed.

Turns out it was a button on the drivers door that had been pressed to stop the windows working oops :)

I once wasted 99p on a McD Cheese burger, biggest waste of dosh ever. :)

Once purchased a Rover 200 Tomcat for £9000, sold it 2 months later for £7800 dire car.

Recently lost my Skull candy headphones somewhere. £30 lost. Smashed my LG G2 on the floor because it slipped from my hands and in a frantic rush to save it playing Keepy ups made it worse. LG wanted 140£ to replace.

Haven't really screwed up much. Little things that annoy you I suppose.

A G00 where a G01 should have been. Several thousand pounds later and a couple of weeks of downtime on a 1 month old Myturn.
I wound up the X axis and thought I had got away with it, then half the slide dropped down into the bottom of the machine.

Early PC build - pushing the memory into the mobo only to push the bottom of the mobo onto the metal case... PC was not unplugged! One puff of smoke later... :o

New rear tyre on motorcycle, usual warning from my tyre fitter - "take it easy on that for a few miles" - ignored and highsided pulling out of the first junction I came to.

At least I only ever did these things once! :D

£1000 worth of photography equipment in a bag between my feet on a train. Have a little snooze and awake near my station, make a hasty exit for the door and as disembark, I realise, turn around to see the door shuts and I watch my equipment drive off.
Never got it back, called the next station instantly and they were useless.
