Oils on the Teg to be changed soon, so I've chosen 5 litres of Silkolene Pro S 5W40 at £48

Seems a bit expensive for 5 litres compared to the stuff I chucked in the previous car. Anyone else use expensive oils?

The gearbox oil will be changed to Amsoil Synthetic MTF and brake fluid to Motul RBF600. Total for the fluids alone is £100.
I'll also be changing the brake lines to Goodridge braided hoses at £50, anyone ever used these before and experiences?
New spark plugs as well, NGK BKR6EIX-11's.

I'll send her in to Honda for cambelt/waterpump change and service in a few weeks, and get them to chuck the oils in at the same time. Going to be an expensive month

Neil.

nope I just use standard mineral stuff and change it often.

admittedly i'm far from an expert on lubricants but I'd think that changing the oil as often as is realistic is more important than using a very pricey one and changing every 6k or whatever the interval is on a teg.

I always use Silkolene Pro S 5W40 in my sport. You cant go wrong with a good oil. Its like the difference between tesco value beer and stella, always get stella!

What car do you use the mineral oil in?

in my rex - you're meant to because apparently synthetic doesn't burn properly and rotary engines inject oil in part of the combustion process.

the rate it burns through the stuff i'm actually quite glad it's not advised to use pricey oil.

Good choice with the Silkolene Pro, its what i use in my Accord Type-R. Id never "risk" using a "lower quality"/cheap oil especially in high revving Hondas.

I've got some goodridge hoses that are waiting to go on the car I got cheap in a group buy.

Would recommend the ones with the stainless fittings too :)

semi/full synth? 5w-10w-15w 30-40-50? gotta be in that range somewhere

In the civic VTi they put in fully synth 0w-40 normally, at least that's what mine gets when it's serviced. Not sure what make it is off the top of my head though.
